Salina was founded in 1872 by George Wills and named for his daughter Salina. The first post office in Salina was established in 1875 and named for Chancellor Augustus Dickey Fenton of Wichita. In 1907, the town became a full-fledged city and adopted its present name. In 1916, the city annexed the adjoining towns of Republican and Haskell. Between 1927 and 1930, Salina lost all its businesses to nearby Wichita due to an agricultural depression that struck much of rural America at that time. However, since then it has experienced steady growth as a bedroom community for Wichita. Salina is located at (37.712057,-95.705361). According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Salina has a humid subtropical climate; "Cfa" on climate maps.[1]

Salina, Kansas is a small town in the US state of Kansas. The population was 2,564 at the 2010 census. Salina is located in Saline County and is part of the Topeka–Kanawha, KS Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers to what would become Salina arrived in 1867 when they came overland from Missouri via Dodge City. They were led by John Prentice and his son-in-law, George Hightower. The town was founded on July 15, 1867 by James Salyer and others as a station on the Santa Fe Railroad. The railroad was later extended to Salina and other towns near it. Salina quickly became one of the most important towns in central Kansas due to its location close to major transportation routes and its status as a center for agricultural production. Engineering feats such as the original construction of the Kankakee Canal made Salina an important player in this region during the late 19th century; these contributions helped make Salina one of America's most prosperous cities during that time period. During World War II, much of what now makes up downtown Salina was destroyed by bombing raids from Japan; however, many buildings still remain standing today including saloons and churches that served as military barracks during that time period. In 1945, following World War II, Wichita took control of central Kansas following their victory over Japan; this move led to significant changes for Salinas residents with Wichita becoming their new local government officials and creating more opportunities for economic growth within the city limits than ever before! Today, there are several thriving businesses within downtown Salinas which continue to contribute significantly to its economy while also maintaining strong relationships with its past inhabitants – ensuring that future generations will continue to enjoy all that hometown hasto offer!
Salina was founded in 1854 by Lorenzo Salinas. The first post office was established in 1857, and the first store was opened in 1860. The town grew rapidly, and by 1870 it had a population of over 100 people. In 1892, Salina became an incorporated city.
