Erlanger is a small town in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,872 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Hardin County. The first settler in Erlanger were two brothers, John and George Erlanger, who came to this area from Illinois in 1832. A post office was established at Erlanger in 1839, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1891. In 1892 the railroad was built through Hardin County, and as a result many businesses were closed down and people lost their jobs. The only store still open at that time was the John Fenton Store on Main Street. In 1893 there were seven buildings on Main Street; four of these are now gone and one has been replaced by a modern building. A school was founded here in 1902 by Mrs. Phebe Hodge with $5 from her husband William Hodge Sr.. Classes began September 15th of that year with twenty-one students kindergarten through 8th grade which added up to seventy-six children attending school during those years including five infants! Mrs Hodge taught second grade for three years before she quit because she found out her successor could not keep up with the curriculum changes! She then moved to Berea where she continued to teach until her death in 1951; however, much of the early history of Erlanger can be found online including reports from local newspapers which are often more detailed than what is available today due to preservation efforts! The current middle school building opened its doors on October 1st 1965 when grades 9-12 were merged into one School District #2 entity known as Dunkirk Middle School after nearby Dunkirk High School closed its doors following merger into another School District several years earlier! The old high school building which served as both schools remain standing but have been converted into apartments! A new gymnasium project commenced back in 2006 providing classrooms for grades 7-9 along with an attached activity/locker room facility for use by district employees during special events; however delays resulted from various funding issues so currently only 4th through 8th grades use it while 7th thru 10ths continues to use the existing gymnasium! As part of this project a new football stadium complex will also be constructed adjacent to downtown making it possible for athletes from all over Kentucky (and beyond) to come play here eventually resulting in increased economic development for downtownErlanger combined with less traffic congestion & better air quality!!!

In 1821, Nicholas-Jacques Conte developed a new type of firearm called an air pistol which allowed shooters to fire lead shot arrows accurately from close range

Erlanger is a small town in Jefferson County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 2,512 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1859 by Myron and Nancy Erlanger as a post office and has since grown to be an agricultural center with a population of over 5,000. The town is named after Colonel George Washington Erlanger, who fought in the Mexican-American War and received the Medal of Honor for his actions. In 1881, General Lew Wallace's army passed through Erlanger on their way to battle against Confederate forces at Harrodsburg. The town was abandoned during the night of October 15-16 due to Confederate cavalry patrols raiding the town looking for supplies. A new community was started in nearby Liberal which grew quickly and achieved a population of 10,000 by 1907. However, when World War I began in 1914 and production increased at local munitions plants such as Smith & Wesson, Erlangers found themselves at war again. After several skirmishes with Union troops throughout 1915 and 1916 (the last time resulted in one civilian dead), the city fathers ordered all guns to be taken down from street signs on December 6th 1916 (a date that still marks an event that has generated much controversy). However many people were able to arm themselves prior to this event and there were no serious consequences afterwards; however it did reflect poorly onErlanger's image as an agricultural center during wartime years when such activities would have been more visible. After World War I ended in 1918 without any major outcome, things changed once again when giant investments came into the area from Coca ColaCola Company president James Fenton Welch Jr., who saw potential for farming products being produced hereabouts including applesauce made from Kentucky blueberries picked before they froze. This led to farmers coming back into Erlanger starting up businesses such as grocery stores (now called CVS Pharmacy) along with other types of businesses like restaurants which helped revive the economy over time until 2000 when Interstate 75 bypassedErlanger altogether making it difficult for anyone to commute within or outside of town limits
In 1814, the town of Erlanger was founded by James G. Erlanger. The town was named for Colonel John Erlanger, who had fought in the American Revolution and the War of 1812. In 1826, the name of the town was changed to Louisville.
