In 1865, the state legislature designated it as the site for a new educational institution called "Nicholasville College" which eventually became University of Kentucky; today known as UK. However, during World War I things changed dramatically forNickolstadt when many of its factories were closed down due to wartime restrictions on munitions production (the industry did not resume until later). Nickolstadt also experienced economic stagnation following World War II before experiencing another growth spurt throughout the 1970s-1980s associated with increased tourism and job growth due to new industrial expansions across Nicholetsville’s borders outside of manufacturing employment however this recent period has seen modest economic gains overall despite population growth over past decades In terms of demographics, Nicholetsville’s median age is 67 years old which puts it well below both Louisville (which has a median age of 78) and Lexington (which has a median age of 75).
