Initially all turrets were made out of brass but soon enough they realized they needed new material due to rapidly increasing demand from hunters across America (Heitkamp 1912a). Brass was eventually replaced by aluminum which became standard throughout most companies until recently because it is stronger than brass and does not corrode (Goudreau 2006; Kappeler 2016). One reason why aluminum became popular for scope mounting is because it doesn't corrode unlike brass which can develop rust Deposit inside your firearm's barrel caused by water or other chemicals exposure (Goudreau 2006; Kappeler 2016). St. Matthews, Kentucky is a town in Hardin County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lexington–Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to set foot in what is now St. Matthews was Christopher Columbus on October 12, 1492 when he and his group of sailors arrived ashore on what was then a small island near present-day Louisville. From this point forward English traders and missionaries began arriving in larger numbers and by 1688 had established a mission there known as Trinity Parish Station (later renamed St. Matthews). In 1775 the territory that would become Hardin County was organized from parts of Morehead and Floyd counties; St. Matthews became its capital and functioned as the county seat until 1836 when Lexington became the new county seat. When settlers started arriving in what is now Hardin County during the early 1800s they erected log cabins which soon fell into disrepair due to lack of maintenance or repair attention from those living within their own communities or those residing outside of these boundaries who relied upon supplies brought overland by wagon or horseback path driven by travelers heading southward through western Kentucky bound for Tennessee or points east along the Ohio River Valley (the so-called Great Appalachian Trail).
