Today's major employers include paper products company JBS Wholesale Corporations Inc., software company Adobe Systems Incorporated, telecommunications company Comcast Corporation, and food processor Tyson Foods Incorporated. Attleborough native Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote some of his most famous works – such as "The Scarlet Letter" – while living in nearby Salem between 1800 and 1802. Some other notable people who lived or worked here include British Prime Minister John F Kennedy; Boston Celtics player Julius Erving; actor/director Sidney Poitier; businessman Harold Ickes; author Toni Morrison
