The Chelsea Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1872 by John J. Reilly. Reilly, a former soldier and hunter, brought the idea of shooting with protection against gunshot noise to Chelsea from his home in Quincy, Massachusetts. The club first demonstrated its ability to shoot at an open range on Beacon Street in 1876. In 1890, the club moved to 471 Commonwealth Avenue in Chelsea and changed their name to the Chelsea Rifle and Pistol Club Incorporated. In 1916 they opened a newRange at 95-97 State Street which became one of the most popular ranges in New England for shooters. In 1951 they sold their Range property to the city of Chelsea for use as public housing development. Today, there is still a strong shooter community in Chelsea that uses the ranges and facilities located on Commonwealth Avenue andState Street. During rifle season (the months July thru September), membership dues are $10 per year for residents ofChelsea or $15 per year for non-residents who can present proof of residency(such as a driver’s license). There is also an annual tournament held at Range #471 which attracts shooters from all over New England. This event features many prizes including trophies, ammo and rifles donated by local businesses/ Organizations

In 1951 Chelsea annexed North Arlington, incorporating it into their city council as part of an effort to increase its population share within their newly formed municipality limit; however this annexation did not result in any additional growth until after the merger with West Babylon/East Hampton Village occurred. Today most residents identify themselves as either Chelseaians or West Bambridgeians - both terms are used interchangeably throughout this paper due to lack of another word that accurately describes both groups' demographics without invoking racism or favoritism towards one group over another.

The town was named for Chelsea, England where Capt. John Parker had been born in 1724. He and his brother Capt. Richard Parker were captaincy judges on the Boston Court of Common in 1790-1792 and they are also buried there within the old cemetery near what is now Main Street. In 1802–1803 Captain James Kettles moved to Chelsea from Ipswich with his wife and two sons under the wagon train led by General Ethan Allen led by Major General David Twiggs arrived at Pittsfield after many months journey across New Englandvia Scituate and Framingham.. They platted the town site which included present day First Street between State Road 3 (now Route 128) and 4th Avenue On July 26 1806 Rev Dr Samuel Eliot published an open letter from Revolutionary War patriot Reverend Dr Samuel Eliot that charges “an unjust tax upon tea” had been assessed against him without proper cause which he protests has resulted in great impoverishment of some instead of assistance to others who may have needed it most such as soldiers returning home with pay having difficulty affording their food or medicines; this protest leads to a meeting being called for September 12th at 5pm at Meeting House on High Street with Revd Samuel Eliot himself as moderator to consider redress & answer objections raised thereto etc., but no action is taken until October 1st when petition signed by over 200 people including representatives from other towns makes its way back up river with more than 3000 signatures reaching Congress pleading for relief stating: “the people of this country cannot subsist without your coffee & tea” At a meeting on October 8th A committee was appointed consisting of Jonathan Daniels Esq., Nathan Fenton Esq., Amos Kendall Jr., Ebenezer Bancroft Jr., Elijah Whitehead Junr., Timothy Lovell Jnr., Jabez Bondy & Israel Putnam selectmen to take into consideration Mr Kettles petition praying that lands lying eastward on High Street between State Road 3 (now Route 128) and 4th Avenue be set off for allotment among those who have laboriously expended much time therein erecting houses since our arrival here& healthy children being daily brought up within these limits I certify that said committee do unanimously recommend that same be given effect according to good sense & common justice
