The plant operated from 1942 to 1945. During the war, it produced rifles, pistols, and machine guns. In 1945, the armory closed its doors and all of its products were destroyed.

Escanaba is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan, located on the north bank of the Missaukee River. The population was 15,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Rapids–Wixom Metropolitan Statistical Area and is included in the Grand Rapids-Holland, MI Combined Statistical Area. The history of Escanaba goes back to 1837 when a group of French Canadian fur traders founded what would become known as "The Company." The company's original land grant was within present-day Escanaba Township, but it moved its operations to what is now Canby Township in 1848. In 1855, an act of Congress designatedescanseaban as a town site and incorporated it on November 3 that year under the name of "Township of Escanaba". The first sheriff and treasurer were named John Waddell and Ebenezer Morse respectively. The post office was established at Escanaba in 1860, and remained operational until 1959; at which time it was renamed "Grand Rapids". In 1893, an act provided for township incorporation into sectionsalaw; this resulted in establishment by township residents of their own city government separate from that of Grand Rapids with power to levy taxes and make ordinances without prior approval from either branch; however, this City Council only operated until 1898 when central government assumed control over municipal affairs within the newly formed metropolitan area. In 1909,Escanaba became part of Jackson County when it was organized from partsof Washtenaw and Oakland Counties following passage by both houses of Congress (then called the United States Senate) of a bill authorizing local government growth within Jackson County while providing for equal representation among its five townships: Escanaba (northwest corner), Canby (southwest corner), Holland (central section east side), Marshfield (southeast corner), and Stonington (northern section). The county seat became Lansing after Detroit became America's largest city two years later.. By 1925escanseaban had attained racial integration through enactment by then-President Coolidge OFDCharter No 2164 which prohibited discrimination against any race or color in matters touching public morals or political economy anywhere within our borders except such places as Chicago or New York City... during World War II much development took place here due to military production including large plants making munitions
Escanaba was founded in 1834 by Nicholas J. Escanaba and his brother Jacob as a small trading post on the Rouge River. The brothers first erected a log cabin and made their first sale of goods to local farmers. By 1847, the Escanabas had built a gristmill, which became the nucleus of their business. In 1857, they acquired land on the east side of the river and built a more permanent mill with three stories. The mill continued to produce flour until 1862 when it was replaced by an electric one. In 1895, Escanaba became an incorporated city with a population of 30 people. The early years of Escanaba were difficult; however, through hard work and determination, the city developed into one of Michigan's largest commercial centers during the 19th century. Today, Escanaba is still home to many locally owned businesses and is known for its delicious onion soup served at various restaurants throughout town.
