Fraser is a small town in Muskegon County, Michigan, United States. The population was 2,907 at the 2010 census. Fraser is part of the Muskegon Heights–Ogemaw Heights Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is located on the southern border of Muskegon Township and north of Clinton Township. The first settlers to Fraser were Isaac Stricker and his family in 1814. On December 12, 1825, John Stricker donated 640 acres (2 km²) of land to the township for $5 per acre ($/ha). In 1829, Stephen Atherton donated 8 acres (3 ha) to the township for $10 per acre ($/ha). This donation formed part of what would become known as Fraser Prairie. In 1861, James Ladd donated 5 acres (20 m²) to the township for $10 per acre ($/ha). This donation formed part of what would become known as Ladd Prairie. In 1865-1867, Solomon Deveraux contributed 1 hectare (2 sq mi; 0.4 sq km) to the township for $5 per hectare ($/ha). This donation formed part of what would become known as Deveraux Prairie. In 1868-1869, George Stephenson donated 8 acres (3 ha) to the township for $15 per acre ($/ha). This donation formed part of what would become known as Stephenson Prairie. In 1871-1872, Lorenzo Dowell donated 4 rods (19 ft 3 in; 6 m 2 )to the township for $10 per rod($/ft²), which was equivalent to 10 feet by 10 feet (3 m by 3 m). This donation formed part of what would become known as Dowell Prairie. In 1879-1880, Augustus Ewing contributed 7 rods (.27 miles; .86 km²)tothe Township for $20 each (.83/. mm = 20 inches long x 24 inches wide x 16 inches high), which was equivalent to 50 feet by 50 feet (15 m x 15 m x 30 cm): this donation forms a large area that now includes much of today's village center and all but a portion of its original bend in Route 9 southward from Fraser Road eastward into Clinton Township
