An act passed by Congress June 10th 1846 authorized US War Department for Dearborn County to purchase residue land lying westward within Ottawa Township including parts now included within Downtown Kalamazoo limits extending back into Ottawa Township beginning at mile marker 4 rods above water's edge thence westerly 2½ rods over high water mark To be used for military purposes only no right or title shall ever be given thereunto excepting to United States Governmental agents appointed thereto who may use all reasonable care not to disturbed said lands which they may designate specially adapted for their uses.–Washington township being omitted hereinafter mentionedFor landing party necessary during war periods with steamboats see accompanying mapNo vestige remains today but platting begins soon after battle ended so there could have been lots more building taking place before final destruction took place circa 1800s
