In 1912, George Norton married Anna Maria Heinemann and their daughter, Edith Marion, was born. The family continued to operate the firm until 1933 when it merged with other gun businesses to become American Armory Corporation. American Armory Corporation prospered for many years and today continues to be a major player in the firearms industry. The first part of American Armory Corporation's success story came from its acquisition of a Heckler & Koch G36C assault rifle in 1978. This weapon marked the beginning ofAmerican Armory's growth as anassault rifles manufacturer. After purchasing Heckler & Koch's assets,American Armoury corporation went on to produce some ofthe most popular assault rifles in history including the M4A1 Carbine (1986), M249 SAW (1991), AK-47 (1996), FN2000 (2002), MP5K (2005) and QBZ06(2009). Norton Shores is a small community in Macomb County, Michigan. It is located on the shores of Lake Erie, about 15 miles east of Detroit and 25 miles west of Chicago. The population was 1,834 at the 2010 census. Norton Shores was founded in 1892 by Dr. George Norton and his wife Sarah. It became an incorporated village in 1907. The village had a post office from 1911 to 1965 and a library from 1961 to 1990. It lost its library status after it closed its doors due to financial problems. In 2000, the town voted to switch from a one-party government to a three-party system in order to improve local democracy. The town has several cultural attractions, including the NortonShores Museum of Art and History, which contains over 100 artworks dating back to the mid-19th century; the NortonShores Playground; and the Norton Shores Community Center with several sporting events each year such as ice skating or golfing tournaments
