Pepper spray has been used by law enforcement in Michigan for over 100 years. In 1902, the Michigan State Police ordered the production of a pepper spray adaptation to their own use. The first pepper spray units were manufactured in 1913 and were used as part of the police department's " mounted unit." Pepper spray was also given to military members during World War I. In 1932, an amendment to the criminal code made it illegal to produce or possess pepper spray without a license from the state police commissioner. This prohibition was repealed in 1978. The state police continue to issue permits for the purchase of pepper spray equipment statewide. In 1984, Michigan became one of only five states (along with Arizona, North Dakota, New Mexico, and Texas) that recognized OCW (or "Occupational Classification Warrant") - a document issued by a local law enforcement agency which identifies individuals who are considered high risk for escape or violence within their workplace or community. Wyandotte is a city in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, United States. The population was 9,811 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Wyandotte County. The area that now makes up Wyandotte was first settled by Native Americans in the 17th century. In 1837, Wyandotte became a part of Michigan Territory and was named for General David Wyandotte. The first white settler in what is now Wyandotte County arrived in 1838 and named it after himself, David Wabashwyatte (David Washington). The town started as a small logging village near where the Canadian River empties into Lake Huron. By 1840, much of what is now downtown Wyandotte had been built and business began growing around mills operated by James Ivey and others. By 1850, most of what are today the city's boundaries had been established with businesses extending to both sides of the river including present-day Davenport Street on the east side and State Street on the west side. In 1861, two years after Michigan became an independent state, new legislation gave Wyandotte its own government with John Hickey as its first mayor In 1870–71, when Arkansas State University moved from Fayetteville to Little Rock (then called Northwest Arkansas), many students chose to move to Wyandotte so they could be close to their studies; during this time period there were few opportunities for people living outside of cities or towns to get involved in local politics or commerce. That changed when Kansas Territorial Governor James Purdy approved a request from Wilburn Gentry for $1 million dollars to build a university at Little Rock which would give rise to Arkansas State University; Purdy hoped that this would lead to more economic development within his territory and help spur growth in nearby communities such as Wyandotte which he saw as only marginal compared against Little Rock's importance economically speaking In 1974–75, due largely to increased gas prices caused by OPEC oil embargo and other factors,[2] business sentiment began flagging throughout much of America due to nationwide recession which was hitting hardest at home. However, while other parts of America experienced strong job growth during this time period,[3] jobs weren't coming back even though gas prices were dropping overall By 1978–79 however things had stabilized somewhat[4][5] but still economic conditions were challenging given high energy costs[6][7] despite some progress made towards reducing them over subsequent years On October 15th 1984 Mayor Bill Kaulin announced plans for a new shopping mall called "The Galleria", designed by architect Robb Kelley who created similar concept malls such as One World Center in New York City[8][9], suburban shopping centers like Albertsons/Kmart located adjacent Interstate 495 between Detroit Lakes & Marquette MI[10],[11], along with smaller stores inside larger buildings operating under various names across different states such as "The Mall" near Omaha NE according [to Grocery Manufacturers Association report]) followed soon thereafter by construction company announcement that they would be constructing an office park adjacent 100% owned by Wabashwyatte Township along US  231 / M-12 known then simply as "The Park".[12][13] This project eventually became known colloquially among residents simply as "The Farm".[14]:p 54 At 7 acres it was one acre shy of being contiguous with existing township land immediately adjacent thereto on matters alignment (the right-of-way ran north/south through current streetscape blocks bounded generally EASTLY on 3rd St., NORTHLY on 2nd St., SOUTHLY on 1st St.), making annexation possible only through eminent domain proceedings commenced after public opposition successfully averted annexation referendum proposed Nov 8 '84; vote: 63% no’s vs 37% yes’s) Wyndocke County Courthouse building opened February 14th 1865 looking out over downtown from Clinton Avenue

Wyandotte, Michigan is an unincorporated community in the Grand Traverse County town of Wyandotte, Michigan, United States. The community was founded in 1849 by a group of Frenchmen who named it after their then-recent acquisition of land from the native Wyandot people. The first post office was established in 1852 and remained open until 1906. The area now designation as Wyandotte was part of the Miami Valley region that stretched from Ontario to Marquette county in central Michigan. As early as 1800, French traders had been trading with the larger Mobile Bay area and other parts of what is now Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and Georgia. In 1821, Pierre Gratiot sold his portion of what is now Wyandotte Township to Nicholas Michaux for $5 per acre.Michauxvoraciously improved the township’s soil and built several taverns and residences during his lifetime. One such residence still stands on present day Lansing Boulevard near mile marker 516: The Michaux Mansion (now known as Hyatt Place). After Nicholas Michaux’ death in 1830, his widow Catherine took over management of the township and continued to improve its soil for agricultural purposes until her death in 1865. During World War II many Wyandotte residents volunteered their services to serve their country either through service or war bonds.; Many local businesses were located within easy walking distance of military bases or major roadways which made defense easy; many residents also raised horses on farms west of town while working on nearby military installations; many residents also did some form work on large factories located east of town while they awaited word from home about what was happening back at home

Wyandotte was founded by the Potawatomi people in 1817. The town was named for a Shawnee hill, Wanda, which is located in Wyandotte County today. In 1824, the first post office was established in Wyandotte. The town grew rapidly and by 1830 it had a population of 1,500 residents. By 1836, Wyandotte had an estimated population of 5,000 people and by 1840 it had 10,000 residents. In 1846, the first school building was built in Wyandotte. It doubled as a courthouse from 1853 to 1865. The town's growth slowed after the Civil War but resumed after Reconstruction began in America in 1865. In 1902, Wyandotte became a city and its mayor became Mayor John Laddick.
