Gun sights history in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota began with the establishment of a shooting range in 1909. In 1912, a gunsmith named Homer W. Bell installed a target rifle range at 5th and Dearborn Streets in Brooklyn Center. The following year, the first pistol range was established on Elm Street in Brooklyn Center by Prentice Ransom and Charles Fenton. By 1914, there were five gun ranges operating in Brooklyn Center - two for rifles and three for pistols. In 1916, the Brooklyn Center Pistol Club was organized and started renting space from the Adirondack Rifle Range on Forest Road South. A year later, they moved to their current location at 214-218 Second Avenue inBrooklyn Center. From 1916 to 1919, the actual manufacturing of firearms took place at Bell's Armory on Dearborn Street - this was until prohibition caused business to go down significantly. In 1921, founder Prentice Ransom passed away and his son-in-law Harry Gibbs became president of the club. In 1923, Harry Gibbs donated land to build a training academy that would house all future pistol clubs within reach ofBrooklyn Centre residents - this led to the development of what is now known as The Gateway Shooting School (formerly The Gunnery School). By 1929, there were sixgun ranges located throughout Minneapolis - four for rifles and two for pistols - but it wasn't until 1932 when Brooklyn center became an official city limits municipality that gun sights began appearing throughout town proper! That same year saw the opening of what is now known as The Gables Shooting Park (later renamed Gateway Park) which housed both rifle ranges as well as children's play areas; it remains one of Minneapolis' most popular shooting destinations today!

Brooklyn Center is a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota, located on the west bank of the Missouri River. The population was 11,912 at the 2010 census. The area that would become Brooklyn Center was first settled by French Canadian traders in 1768 as part of what would become Saint Paul County. In 1836, it became a town in Minneapolis under the name of "New Brighton". The town was renamed Brooklyn Center when it annexed parts of nearby Stonington in 1886. Brooklyn Center grew rapidly after World War II due to advances in transportation and job opportunities for veterans returning from service in Japan and Korea. Enterprise companies such as RCA Victor, Ford Motor Company, Pioneer Hi-Fi, Radio Corporation Of America (RCA) bought land here to build new factories and office buildings during the postwar boom years. Large numbers of Korean Americans moved into the city during this time period; many started businesses here or took jobs at other large employers before moving to their own homes or stateside cities later on in their lives. After a period of decline following 9/11/2001 attacks, growth resumed with new development around North Mississippi Avenue and First Street NW betweenbound I-35W and I-494 near downtown Minneapolis starting in 2003; this helped revive Brooklyn Center's reputation as an attractive center for entertainment, shopping, dining and nightlife after years considered lackluster by some residents accustomed only to more rural areas east of Interstate 35W where most employment occurred outside the downtown core. In 2007–2008, Mayor Tim Burgess announced plans for a $180 million redevelopment project called Gateway Park which will include housing developments for low-income residents as well as commercial space including about 240 shopspace units clustered around several plazas flanked by public art sculptures including a Skyway over Lake Harriet overlooking downtown Minneapolis proper crosswise across Nicollet Avenue NE between First Street NW and University Avenue NE totaling 257 acres; while not directly related to Gateway Park but incorporating aspects thereof into its design various community groups have banded together to form Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) committees whose task is To recommend ways property owners withinGateway Park can be brought into compliance with City ordinances relating thereto such as noise restrictions etc.; one example being an agreement reached recently between billionaire real estate developer Mitch Kapor (the founder & CEO macdonald brothers) & Mayor Burgess whereby Kapor will contribute $20 million towards affordable housing projects within Gateway Park itself once all environmental certifications are complete
Brooklyn Center was incorporated as a city in 1911. It grew rapidly during the 1920s, with many businesses and homes being built on the nowricially-namedacreage. The city annexed part of Brooklyn in 1928, creating a new borough called Prospect Heights. In 1933, Brooklyn Center became the first municipality in Minnesota to be incorporated as a state-level city. The following year, it merged with neighboring Minneapolis to form one municipality.
