Weapon flashlights have been a part of St. Michael, Minnesota for many years. The first flashlight was made in 1885 and it used a lucite crystal to emit light. This flashlight was known as the “ Portable Lantern” because it could be carried around with you. In 1912, an oil company built a lighthouse in town and they needed a way to see in the dark. So, they hired a manufacturer to create a light that would work at night. They called this light the “Lighthouse Light” and it was used until 1956. In 1951, someone decided that they wanted to make their own weapon flashlight. They were not sure how to make a good weapon flashlight so they started by designing one themselves. They called their product the “Strip-light” and it was used until 1978 when it was replaced by the current model called the “ Stingray”. Weapon flashes were originally created as safety devices for firearms but now they are also used as decorative lights or security appliance lights. Today, there are many different types of weapon flashes available onthe market and each one has its own unique features and benefits. Some of these features include: having an adjustable beam angle, using rechargeable batteries, being able to emit multiple colors (including flashing), and being versatile enough to be used for both indoor and outdoor use.

Saint Michael, located in the U.S. state of Minnesota, was founded in 1881 by Father John J. Keane as a parish for Catholics in the town of Hutchinson. The original congregation grew to include 1,500 people and was established on a small lot near the present-day site of Archbishops Park. In 1889,Father Keane erected a chapel on what is now the corner of University and Windsor Streets in Hutchinson. In 1907, he established an institute to train priests for missionary work among the native Americans and built a convent on State Avenue in Hutchinson. The church building at 5th Street and Windsor Avenue was completed in 1912 and dedicated by Bishop James Hickey. It became one of the most popular Catholic churches in Minnesota with its simple but elegant architecture matching that of nearby Archbishop's Park which had been designed by architect Edward Huttoninspired by Italy's Colle Oppio basilica (see below). The first Masses were celebrated here on October 26, 1912. In 1916, StMichael acquired land at Maplewood Road and Hastings Avenue just west of Minneapolis to build new facilities for its growing parishioners In addition to these two main buildings - the rectory (1916), located east of Maplewood Road next to First United Presbyterian Church; and a barn (1917), used as an elementary school until 1951 - there were also three small chapels: Our Lady Chapel (1920) on North Side Drive near University; The Rosary Chapel(1925) behind St Michaels School; and Saint Joseph’s Parish Hall(1927), which served as both school gymnasium and recreation hall from 1927 until it burned down in 1984 . Pope Paul VI named Father Keane “Oxfile Priest” upon his consecration as pastor emeritus on December 6, 1970 due to his longstanding retirement from active ministry at age 82 years old . On November 10thof that year, Pope Paul designated Father Keane Rector Emeritus with immediate effect making him available once again for service within our diocese .....
