The cotton fields that once thrived in Grenada are now defunct due to overproduction during World War II; however, some remnants remain scattered throughout the township today. Some of these includes a large number of farmsteads dating back to before 1800 which have been preserved through various restoration projects over time including new construction on several such properties beginning in 2006/2007 spearheaded by then-Mayor Derrick Johnson (L), who remains its namesake to this day! Grenada was founded in 1819 by Danish immigrants and was named for the island of Grenada in the Caribbean Sea. The first store in Grenada opened on Main Street in 1825. In 1829, friends of Denmark helped found a Methodist church and school in Granada and donated land for a courthouse and jail. The first justice of the peace served in Grenada from 1830 to 1840. A post office called Grenada opened on November 15, 1834, and continued operation until it closed on December 17, 1865. The population of Grenada declined during the 19th century due to factors such as heavy British military presence throughout much of that era as well as periodic slave raids by African Americans seeking access to sugar cane fields located around nearby Alabama and Mississippi plantations. However, with increased trade with Europe during the early 20th century (due to railroad construction), agriculture became an important factor again contributing to Grenadian growth throughout most of that period; grenadines became known for their prodigious yields of sugarcane crops. In 1940, Hurricane Season began making landfall near Gulf Coast US states; many small towns were destroyed or badly damaged including those along the Gulf Coast such as Stonington (New England) which suffered catastrophic damage from storm surge alone which killed over 100 people according to some reports while others reported only minor damage done overall despite Stratholme being completely destroyed - one report claim its total loss amounting to £20 000 - though this has been disputed by later historians After World War II ended with Japan's surrender on September 2nd 1945 following weekslong siege within Hiroshima city limits (the largest attack ever against civilians outside war), many Japanese troops who had fought overseas returned home after completing their tours or receiving honorable discharge papers; these troops constituted what is now known as " Draft dodgers ". Consequently many GI's left behind numerous homes and businesses which were not handed back over until 1946 when Congress passed legislation setting up a Board Of Trustees To Receive And Manage These Properties . In 1948-1949 about half million dollars was raised through local sales taxes specifically meant for this purpose . This money was then used to restore some buildings lost during WWII including rebuilds at both old Stockbridge Plantation & Great House Plantation along with new construction at surrounding properties . Today there are more than 300 properties remaining across Hinds & Marshall Counties administered by Trustees since 1948... [GrenADA] retains its position as one of Mississippi's leading agricultural communities due primarily to its production of sugarcane crops."

The treaty was designed to end the War of 1812 and ended most of the fighting between the United States and Great Britain.
