Creve Coeur Rifle Scope History began in 1899 when George C. Smith, owner of the Creve Coeur Gun Club, developed a rifle scope for use with his Model 1894 Winchester rifles. The first scopes were designed to be mounted on top of the receiver and used magnification capabilities of .25-inch or less. These early scopes were made from brass or lead and had a simple design. They were not very successful and were quickly discontinued. In 1906, Mr. Smith again ventured into the world of rifle scope development with the introduction of the Model 602 rifle scope. This new scope was designed to be mountable on either side of the receiver and offered a magnification range of 1-6x using various types of eyepieces. By 1912, all Model 602 rifles had been sold and production ceased for that company as well. A few years later, in 1915, Mr’smith introduced his most famous riflescope model which is still in use today - the 642 Schmidt & Bender Rifle Scope! This new scope was designed specifically for bowhunting and offered a magnification range up to 10x through an extra set of lenses located on either side of the lens barrel! By 1918, production resumed at Schmidt & Bender for this new product line which would become known as The “Big Six” series riflescopes! At this point in time, Schmidt & Bender had become one of America’s leading Optics companies and their products continued to be featured on some Of America’s highest priced firearms models throughout World War II!
Creve Coeur is a city in the Ozarks of Missouri, United States. The population was 20,823 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield-area metropolitan area. Additionally, Creve Coeur became known for its delicious chili peppers (known locally as "chili peppers" or "creole peppers"), which helped to fuel local economic development during this time period. Creve Coeur is located in St. Louis County, Missouri and was founded in 1830. The town was named after the crevices in the limestone that make up the area. Creve Coeur became a major coal mining and manufacturing center during the late 1800s and early 1900s. It also played an important role in the development of St. Louis as a major city. The first European to visit Creve Coeur was French explorer Jean Baptiste La Salle on July 5, 1768, who explored what is now Missouri City and Parkland before continuing on to Fort Snelling near present day Kansas City. La Salle called this area "Covetous Inlet" because he saw no other vessels traffic here until he arrived at its mouth about 20 miles downstream from where we now stand. In 1803, General James Wilkinson bought land east of present-day downtown Saint Joseph for $10 per acre which formed today's part of CreveCoeur Township (now north side of I-64). The township was organized on April 15, 1808 following a vote by the citizens of Saint Joseph Township over whether they should form their own township or submit to Wilkinson's purchase. As with most things in early 19th century America, it wasn't long before goods started flowing into CreveCoeur from areas such as Illinois and Kentucky via wagon trains carrying goods downriver known as the White River Road or 'the Gilded Trail.' This trade corridor connected Chicago downriver to Hannibal, Missouri on one side and Carrollton on the other - making travel across central Illinois much easier than it is today! By 1825, Covington had become one of several small towns along White River Road – right next door to what is now Peoria – based upon luring business owners away from Sangamon County (then part of Illinois) for closer access to resources like coal and limestone that lay within easy driving distance around these days' St Louis metropolitan area! Because transportation costs were high back then especially when compared against today's prices - businesses quickly set up shop along White River Road as opportunities arose! Starting out as just a few homes scattered throughout rural farmland around Big Sandy Creek/present day North Side Drive within what are now parts of Southeast Springfield and Northwest Hennepin Counties - over time Covington soon established itself not only as an agricultural center but also began hosting large hotels such as Excelsior Springs Hotel & Casino which still stands today - becoming one of STL’s key economic engines during this period! Throughout all this growth activity Crime rates continued to rise with resultant fear & anxiety among those living nearby due largely to unregulated blacksmithing workshops being located just outside our gates; however despite these challenges local officials remained supportive through thick & thin...right up until WWI!! And even afterwards some progress has been made including creating better infrastructure especially sinceCreveCoeur has seen more than its share thru natural disasters including: Irene (kHz), Katrina (~category 4 hurricane), MOVE Overdose Epidemic (2002), etc….. However much remains undone...including much needed repairs/updates done recently inside historic downtown Saint Joseph proper!!!
