Farmington, Missouri is a small town located in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. The population was 1,814 as of the 2010 census. The town is part of the Springfield, MO-IL Metropolitan Statistical Area. Farmington is known for its agricultural products and its nearly two dozen farms that produce corn, soybeans, cotton, hay, dairy products and other goods. The first settlers to Farmington were James Caird and his family who arrived in 1810 from Scotland. They founded a trading Post on the east side of the river at what is now Quaker Hill Road. Caird's descendants still live in Farmington and are buried there in nearby Mount Olivet Cemetery. In 1836 Joshua Lunsford built a cabin on what is now Mulberry Lane just north of present day State Route 34A. In 1840 he married Martha Jane Boyd and they started a farm about one mile south of their original cabin on Big Spring Creek uterine River (now Brownstown Road). The Lunsford’s raised chickens, cows and pigs until 1860 when they moved to their current location near Nine Mile Creek where theyocated their farm until 1870 when they sold it to Amos Gammage who moved it to its present site on State Route 3 about 1912 which included land downriver from their original location across Big Spring Creek uterine River (now Brownstown Road). Amos also built a log courthouse in 1884 which became the centerpiece of Main Street in today’s Farmington with additions over time including an insurance office (1893), an auto body shop (1911), a library (1926) and more recent additions such as home builders cottage subdivision development ((2008)). In 1915 Mr. & Mrs. John Fenton bought 123 acres along State Route 3 from Elias Sells which included much of what is now Downtown Farmington including present day Main Street between Walnut Street amoungst Elmira Avenue and State Route 34A amoungst Indianola Boulevard/Route 66 etc.. Today downtown includes many local businesses blocks away from Interstate 35W service with access by several bridges over Little Rock creek etc.. After World War II Prairie Home Industries developed adjacent to I-35W service creating thousands jobs within commuting distance but downtown has grown rapidly redeveloping much like most Midwestern towns have done since then Multiple sclerosis research center established 1967 close by closed 1990 & numerous bars/restaurants opening up around downtown soon after Downtown Farmers Market opened 2003

By 1812, all major wars had ended and cartridge manufacturing had moved on to other industries such as plastics and missile propellants (a type of propellant used in missiles). However, large quantities of old Winchester rifled bullets still remained in circulation because they were difficult or impossible to recycle.
