In 1840s there were two churches established: First Presbyterian Church (founded by Reverend John Potter), now part of Emmanuel Baptist Church; Second Methodist Episcopal Church (founded by Rev[?], now part of Lutheran Community Services); both were destroyed by fire around 1900 but have since been reconstructed or rebuilt multiple times throughout their history including being used as charter schools and community centers. In 1861 when Confederate General Robert Ewell invaded Missouri he took up residence at nearby Lenoxville before continuing his march downriver past Springfield to enter Union Territory at Hannibal on May 14th whereupon he ordered all supplies stopped at Farmington Bridge making sure that no food would get into Union hands Farming continued through most of the war as independent companies did not join forces with any specific army unit; however many crops failed due to drought/ frost during early months after battles occurred south central Missouri Aftermath saw increased tensions between white residents & black workers over sharecropping & land theft while some white farmers did manage to legalize cotton farming which helped create more jobs for African Americans following Reconstruction After emancipation all slaves were freed except those living on plantations within state boundaries where they continued working off crop wages

Farmington is a town in Butler County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,619 at the 2010 census. The Town of Farmington was established in 1824 and named for Major John C. Farmington who served as a commander of Union forces during the Mexican-American War. The first settler in what is now Farmington was Levi Coffin, who arrived in 1824 from Kentucky. These new communities were called Prairie du Chien (later renamed Fort Worth) because their location drained swamps underlying the area where Fort Worth later stands. One hundred years later, Prairie du Chien still preserves this name while most of Fort Worth has been renamed many times including: Warrensburg, Illinois; Arlington Heights,, Illinois; West Chicago Heights,, Illinois; Wheeling Steel City,, Ohio; Elmira Iron & Railway Company Depot,. Elmira New York; Canada Line Depot,. Ottawa Junction,. Kansas City ,and finally Parkville,, Missouri). The first post office in Prairie du Chien was established on December 12th, 1861 under the name Indian Village (now known as Parkville). In 1881–82 Hiram Berry installed an electric light system in downtown which draws its power from an overhead wire running through downtown streets and buildings to provide illumination throughout town during daylight hours without any use of gasoline or oil lamps which then required frequent repair/replacement due to blown bulbs or melted wax over time! This innovation led to rapid growth for downtown businesses including several banks/commerce buildings as well as many residences becoming available for purchase also increasing daytime access both inside and outside of town limits making it easier for residents to get about their activities without having to walk far each day when businessRequirements remained unchanged by advances made elsewhere
