One man who worked for White for many years was John Laddsberry Sr., who also built a home near present day Interstate 44/I-70 interchange where Laddsberry Road now meets I-44 / I-70 highway (now called Hwy 99). That same year saw another early settler, Sam Fenton, arrive with his family from Kentucky via wagon train. He soon set up shop on land that he had purchased east of downtown Grandview on present day West Main Street between Third Street and Broadway Avenue.
