This success continued through multiple incorporations throughout the 1840s until it reached its peak at 25,000 residents by 1850; however, due to numerous factors such as internal strife and economic depression caused by Illinois' Railroad Mania which started around that time period (the Panic Of 1857), Moberley's growth slowed significantly thereafter until reaching its current size just prior to World War II when it again experienced significant growth thanks to military production located adjacent to its downtown area!
