Town and Country is a small town in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield–St.Charles Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Town and Country was James Winton, who arrived in 1820. In 1824, John Fenton bought land here from Winton and built a home he named "Fenton's Grove". The town name derived from this location: "TOWN" meaning "place where one lives", AND " COUNTRY"meaning "land of the Scots-Irish". In 1830, Drury came to Town andCountry as an usher for General David Rector on his visit to St. Louis County . He founded a school here which he called the Drury Academy (now known as Webster University). In 1834, when Alexander McMillin came to town from Overton Township near Springfield to purchase land for himself and his family, he donated two lots in front of his house on Forest Lane (now North Hermitage Road) to form what is now McMillin Park. That year also saw the founding of First Methodist Church by Revs George Aiken and Richard Jackson with services being held there until 1835 when it moved into its current building on Columbia Avenue downtown. In 1840 Samuel Morse established a post office here with three mail bags service; one trip took about 12 hours via horseback over rough country roads through farmlands rich with minerals such as coal and silver mines that lay beneath the surface of Missouri farmland then only thinly populated by farmers or their families themselves. Morse's establishment also marked an important milestone in town life – it became possible for residents to receive mail without having to leave their homes most days during those early years of towns growth – something that would be increasingly difficult over time because traveling by wagon or carriage was costly both financially and physically demanding for many people living in these rural areas at that time! Town And Country, Missouri is a town in Daviess County, Missouri, United States. The population was 4,392 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield Micropolitan Statistical Area. The town began as a small village on the west bank of the river Maumee near present day Springfield. In 1836, it became an incorporated town and soon developed into a major agricultural center in Daviess County. The original settlers were from Fairfield Township in Lawrence County, Ohio. Many of these early settlers came overland from that area during the Great American Road Expedition of 1837-38. In 1849, Town And Country became part of Daviess County and changed its name to honor President James K. Polk's visit to that county two years earlier. The first post office was established in Town And Country on July 1, 1850; it was later renamed Springfield and remained so until 1907 when it was discontinued due to changes in post office jurisdiction within Daviess County (the current spelling being used). During World War II, many local businesses produced munitions for the war effort including Grumman Aircraft Corporation and Monsanto Company plants inside Town AndCountry limits. After the war ended in 1945, most production ceased but some continued through various companies until finally ceasing completely around 1970s when all manufacturing activity stopped outside those boundaries also

By 1941, Town AndCountry had reached its peak population with over 1,000 residents. However, due to various factors such as World War II and economic recession, Town AndCountry’s population declined again in the 1940s through 1950s. Today, there are only a few hundred residents living in Town AndCountry.
