Troy, Missouri is a city in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 26,971 at the 2010 census. Troy is the second-largest municipality in St. Louis County after Ferguson, and the largest city east of the Mississippi River. It is also one of three cities within St. Louis County that are not part of the St. Louis metropolitan area and have their own police departments and governments. The city was founded by Greek colonists in 1811 as Troy Deposit (now known as Troy). In 1831, it became known as Sullyville after Colonel John Sully who donated land to promote settlement in what is now north-central St.Louis County; this donation included 3⁄4 mile (1 km) of road leading from his home on Elmwood Avenue to what would become downtown Troy today. In 1835, when Territorial Governor James K. Polk assigned present-daySt.,Louis County to Missouri, he recommended that move westward for agricultural purposes the town of Sullyville then located on the south bank of river near modern day Olivette because its site offered good prospects for water power development plus timber resources available along both banks of river including some 6500 acres (24 km2) tracts still owned by citizens or leased to fur traders in 1863 according to an article “Report on Public Lands in Missouri” prepared for Congress by Gouverneur Morris and published March 9th 1865” A bill authorizing appropriations forraids against fugitives from justice was introduced into Congress on February 4th 1865 but never passed due to president Abraham Lincoln’s vetoes that same day The townships lying between Rock Island Road andMissouri River were annexed by City of Troy on January 1st 1866 . On November 15th 1870 a fire destroyed most of downtown Troy leaving only Bank Street with four stories remaining standing which served as office buildings until renovation commenced in 1984 which increased floor space returned all original art Deco features back inside walls today

One such design was called “Herschelenses” which allowed soldiers to see more clearly at night thanks to special lenses that corrected for low light levels caused by bomb blasts and other sorts of damage1.
