Warrensburg, Missouri is home to the oldest powder magazine in the United States. The Warrensburg Armory was built in 1814 and has been used for gunpowder production ever since. The Arsenal also contains a number of cannons, including two that are still in use today. Ammunition production began in this area in 1851, and the Warrensburg Armory is one of the few remaining arsenals from that time period. In 1907, ammunition manufacturing was moved to Springfield, Missouri due to railroads being construction at that time. However, it continued operations until 1949 when it closed its doors permanently due to lack of demand from customers.

Warrensburg, Missouri is a small town located in northwestern Missouri. The population was 2,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The history of Warrensburg can be traced back to 1811 when Levi Wallace and his family settled in what is now Warrensburg on the banks of the Arkansas River. He became a justice of the peace and began trading goods with Indians near present-day Topeka. In 1824, he married Elizabeth Hinson and postulated that they name their new settlement after General James Krieger's seventh wife, Elizabeth Hinson: "Hinsonsville" became "Warrensburg." By 1830, many settlers had arrived in what is now Warrensburg from surrounding counties including Shawnee, Archer, Delaware and Wyandotte Counties; all were attracted by prospects for timber and land grants from Territorial Governor James Krieger. In 1831, Colonel Elijah Ford built the first frame house in Warrensburg which still stands today. In 1838, General John Logan founded Logan's Creek Emporium which later became one of the leading retail stores in Kansas City. The store was key to early development of downtown Kansas City as it served as a drop off point for travelers coming into town from away outposts such as Topeka and Independence. During this time period there were also several Baptist churches established in Warrensburg including First Baptist Church (founded by Reverend Stephen Cone), Second Baptist Church (founded by Rev Drs Samuel Pemberton and AEMIL WALKER) and Third Presbyterian Church (founded by President Lorenzo Thomas). In 1865, Union soldiers under Colley Crampton burned down most of the buildings on Main Street here during an uprising against Confederate forces loyal to Jefferson Davis following their Battle at Pea Ridge Fieldings two years earlier. The resulting fire destroyed much property here but notresponding brick buildings erected nearby over ensuing years including AEMIL WALKER'S FIRST NEW BUSINESSSTORE opened in 1870 called THE LANDMARK which continued until 1955 when it was replaced by another building also called THE LANDMARK.. This building still stands today across Main Street from current day GARY BURTON'S BARBECUE HOUSE.. After Union troops departed from this area during Reconstruction following the American Civil War most businesses moved westward along I-635 towardsKansas City while some reopened within local communities such as Warrensburg where many residents continue to reside today.. Today's economy relies heavily upon its agricultural production however there are also numerous businesses locally based providing services such as healthcare related companies; professional engineers; real estate agents; restaurant/cafés; dentists; veterinarians etc.; making it a highly competitive place to do business especially given its small size relative to other major cities throughout America
