I was recently in Wentzville, Missouri and I had a great time. The town is so small but it has a lot of history. Wentzville was once a very important town because it was the location where the first gunsmiths in the area worked. The town also played an important role in the Battle of Hiawatha which took place on July 4th, 186. When I was in Wentzville, I saw some old guns and pistols that were used during the Battle of Hiawatha. One of my favorite things about Wentzville was that there were many different types of holster bags that people would carry their weapons in. There were also some great museums located in the town which made for a really interesting visit.

In 1847, Abraham Lincoln's father-in-law Daniel Webster bought land east of Wentzville from Wm. Hines for $5 per acre ($30 total). Webster then donated the land to the government as Fort Dearborn National Military Park which became a national park in 1908. In 1865, construction began on what would become Wentzville High School which opened in 1867. When it closed in 1976 due to budget cuts, it was one of only two high schools statewide that were not replaced by post-secondary institutions over that period (the other being Southwestern Illinois College). The current high school building was built between 1975 and 1979; it replaced an earlier schoolhouse that had been destroyed by fire on November 17th, 1974 while students wereassembling after Thanksgiving break. It housed both grades 9 through 12 when it opened but soon added junior high/elementarygrades along with a library until 2000 when all elementary grades moved into a new building adjacent to Main Street called "The Gables." It also houses some community services such as aangerment & grocery store as well as meeting space for various organizations like district bands or4 th grade science fairs
