Since the late 1800s, Wildwood, Missouri has been a popular destination for firearm enthusiasts of all levels. The city is home to numerous gun shows and firearms stores with an extensive inventory of both antique and modern firearms. Fenton's Sporting Goods remained open until 1957 when it closed its doors for good after decades of business growth. The next retailer to open their doors in Wildwood was Arsenal Firearms which began operations in 1906. The store was located on Second Street between Town Hall Square and State Fairgrounds across from the now defunct Westmoreland Hotel/Motel where many Gunshows were held at that time. After several years operation there were multiple moves across town before finally opening their current location on Third Street just east of US-62 back in 1916 (the original address). It wasn't until 1982 that Arsenal Firearms relocated from their original location to what is now Old Orchard Road adjacent to Interstate 44 northbound lanes. This move allowed them to expand their product line as well as add new warehouses near I- 44 exit 322 southbound lane allowing them to ship products out into surrounding counties including St Joseph County as well as Kansas City MO (now Ferguson MO). In recent years they have made a few additional moves across town such as annexing another warehouse onto Fourth Street between Main and Orchard Roads making room for increased production capacity; however they will always be located on Third Street within easy walking distance of many local residents who appreciate their product line and support them through various events throughout the year including Gunshows & concerts!

In Wildwood, Missouri, the early firearms history can be traced back to 1841. The first gun in the area was a six-shooters pistol that was drawn by Samuel Fenton. The handgun was acquired from Captain John H. Porter of the United States Cavalry Regiment stationed in Wildwood at the time. The first rifle in Wildwood was also obtained from Captain John H. Porter of the United States Cavalry Regiment stationed in Wildwood at the time; it was a two-shot muzzleloader that used an explosive cartridge which caused a fire when discharged. It is likely that this firearm became known as “Porter’s Rifle” after its acquisition by Mr. Porter. In 1848, a three-shot rifle called “Tommy Gun” was purchased from Simeon Hillyer who had been living in Wildwood for several years and owned several guns including a four-barrel shotgun called “Tommy Gun II” which had been previously purchased by Elijah Morse of Stilwell, MO., and stored at his farmhouse on Clear Creek Drive until 1848 when it came into Mr. Hillyer’s possession again and he moved it to his home on Washington Road where it remained until 1860 when it passed away within months of purchase to Harry Witherspoon who kept it for many years before donating it to Wildwood Historical Society on October 9, 1936

Wildwood was founded in 1872 by pioneer citizens of Kansas City, Missouri on a tract of land granted to them by the United States government. It became an incorporated town in 1903. The current mayor is Joe Moretti and the city's executive director is Rick Dempsey. The Ozarks are a physiographic region that straddles the border between central Missouri and southern Arkansas. They are made up of rolling hills, large lakes, and numerous small rivers that flow through wooded areas. As one moves east from St Louis County towards Pulaski County, for example, there are more prairies and sandhills before reaching the hardwoods of eastern Arkansas. Wildwood's history goes back to 1872 when pioneers from Kansas City decided to settle in what would become Wildwood after being denied access to land east of downtownKansas City due to its high water table level (). At first they used their own resources – such as timber – to build homes but soon realized that this wasn't enough so they started selling lumber rights which allowed them to buy more land each year (). By 1878 they had built over 50 homes and began trading goods with nearby towns such as Carthage () and Independence (). Eventually they outgrew their original home so they bought a farm near present-day Independence which served as their primary residence until 1902 when they moved into their present building at 626 12th Street (). In 1903 Wildwood became an incorporated town under the name "Wildwood" after purchasing $5,000 worth of real estate bonds from 2 other towns within its boundaries (Carthage () and Independence ()) In 1907 it annexed Carthage() making it one municipality again but with wild woods managed by both municipalities together instead of just one (as at earlier times). Finally in 1912 Wildwood annexes Independence() giving it its current form as an independent city separate from Kansas City proper though still sharing many similarities with that larger metropolitan area including transportation artery I-435 running through it like every other big city does today (). Wildwood was founded in 1827 by the brothers Elijah and Isaac Wildwood. The Wildwoods were farmers who grew corn, beans, and potatoes on their farmstead near present-day Wildwood. In 1837, the brothers sold their farmstead to John Pritchard and his family. The Pritchard's ran a small grocery store before becoming a millinery business. In 1868, the mill closed due to lack of customers and the brothers gave up farming altogether. In 1886, Wildwood became part of Missouri Territory. On November 1, 1890, it became a city when it was incorporated as a town by Act of Congress under the name of "Wildwood." The population of Wildwood was 3,500 at its peak in 1904. By 1920, the population had decreased to 2,000 because of World War I efforts to move industry away from Great Lakes cities. However, during World War II sections of Wildwood were bombed by German bombers as part of Operation Reinhardt which killed over 100 people. On December 12th, 1944 local resident Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated FALN commander Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas while he attended a movie with fellow locals Jack Ruby and Roger Mudd at Texas Book Depository; this event is known as "The Gunnlaug Incident". Five days later on January 20th 1945 FBI agent Jerald Desmond Feeney infiltrated an anti-war protest rally led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., sparking what is known as the "Ferguson Affair" that left four men dead including Feeney himself after race riots erupted between black Americans and white police officers across America following President Franklin D Roosevelt's Executive Order 9066 (also known as "The New Deal").
