Kearney, Nebraska is a town located in Kearney County, Nebraska, United States. It was founded in 1868 by Mormon settlers. The first gun target in Kearney was built near the present-day intersection of North First and South Second Streets. A rifle range was also constructed west of the present day high school. In 1893, a steel mill was established in Kearney and its targets were soon replaced by cannons. The mills closed around 1920 but their targets still remain at the old mill site. The first modern gun range in Kearney opened on Broadway Avenue just east of I-80 south of town on November 7, 1928. It operated until 1984 when it became part of the Lincoln Rifle Range complex which includes an ammunition store and several other ranges including a pistol range and a shotgun range as well as an indoor water park with slides and two huge water guns that can shoot up to 50 feet off the ground! In 1970, private interests purchased the former municipal water tank which held over 2 million gallons (10,000 m3) for use as a shooting range with asphalt practice fields for handguns. Today it remains one of only a few remaining shooting ranges left in America outside metropolitan areas!

In 1879, Kearney took on its current name when it became a part of the newly organized Kearney County. The city continued to grow during the late 1800s and early 1900s and by 1920, it had reached its current size. Throughout this time period, Kearney saw many important events such as the end of World War I and Prohibition in America which helped contribute to its growth. In 1938, Kearney incorporated as a city and has remained an important community ever since.

This move should help improve transparency within government while also boosting economic development opportunities for Kearney residents _ something that has been sorely lacking in recent years._ Overall this will be an important step forward as Kearney struggles to maintain its ranking as one of Nebraska's fastest growing communities._ Kearny has seen some great progress lately in terms of economy and social media marketing_ especially through their summer downtown festival which has brought in much business._ However there remain many challenges facing the city such as lack of affordable housing options for low-income residents and long wait times for services like water or sewer hookups._ In order to ensure these issues are addressed soon they will need local and state funding which is currently not available.�

Kearney and his brother John A. Kearney. The town site was chosen because it could be watered by the Missouri River and had good shipping access from Omaha and Council Bluffs. The first post office in the town was established on October 24, 1868; it was renamed Kearney on December 2, 1871. The railroads reached Kearney by way of Council Bluffs in 1865 and 1870; both arrived too late to have much impact on its early history However, railroad transportation did lead to an increase in trade with nearby Omaha which made Earley a booming community during the late 19th century In 1893 Davenport & Dodge Railroad built a branch line east from Earley toCouncil Bluffs which helped increase trade even more; this also led to another name change for the town when that company became known as "Council Bluffs Railway Company". By 1900 Earley boasted a population of 25 men who operated three mercantile stores and six agricultural businesses while also serving asFactories National Bank (later National City Federal Savings bank), Methodist Episcopal Church (1893-1996) and First Presbyterian Church (1896-1998). During World War IEARLEY supported American forces through contributions such as cash donations, goods shipped in via steamboats or air cargo before being unloaded at local railway yards located near downtown EARLEY until 1918 when prohibition caused many small businesses unable or unwilling to contribute either money or goods To make up for lost timeEARLEY organized its citizens into two patrols: one patrolled the river between buildings downtown while another patrolled between Third Street south of Central Park and Fifth Street north of Central Park One final note about EARLEY during WWI prior to its battles fought along what is now I-80Downtown section were several homes/factories used by military authorities for storage purposes These facilities are no longer available for public inspection but are still visible from Interstate 80
Kearney was founded in 1868 by John Kearney and his wife, Anna. The town grew rapidly due to the influx of new settlers and businesses. In 1887, Kearney became a city. The population peaked at over 20,000 in 1930 and declined to 9,000 by 1950. The population decreased again until 2010 when it reached 7,500.
