On October 1, 1984, much-needed federal money arrived at Fernley after years of lobbying from Mayor Donny Hamlin; this $5 million infusion helped revive the struggling community and bring new life into an area that had been vacant since 1992 while development took place nearby including both casino resorts Casino Mirage and Flamingo Las Vegas On November 15th 2002 Mayor Hamlin announced that he will be running for re-election against current City Councilmember Pat Conroy who has represented District 7 since 2001 . In 1980, after years of planning by local leaders, Fenton High Schoolopened adjacent to the Community Learning Center which has since become known as “The Library” due to its many collections including books used for research purposes as well as old photographs dating back to 1870!
