In the early 1900s, Fernley was a small town located in central Nevada. It was home to a local glass company and a number of optical businesses. One of these businesses, the Lighthouse Glass Company, manufactured and sold optical accessories such as telescopes, binoculars, and microscopes. This business was founded by John Fenton and his brother-in-law George Henson. The brothers began production of these products in 1903 and continued to do so until their death in 1927. The Lighthouse Glass Company was one of the first companies to produce optics commercially. Their products were well-known throughout Nevada for their quality and performance. In particular, they were popular among astronomers because they allowed them to use high magnification factors with little distortion or improvement in brightness when used with an telescope or microscope. One of the most famous customers of the Lighthouse Glass Company was Edwin Hubble! Hubble used their products to make many dissections of stars and galaxies at wavelengths that were then impossible to see with human eyesight. He also used their products to capture images of planets orbiting other stars!

Fernley, Nevada is located in the Clark County of Nevada. The population was 3,549 at the 2010 census. The town is named after General George Custer, who died in 1876 during the American Civil War. Fernley is bordered by the cities of Reno and Sparks to the north, and Washoe County to the east. The town has a total area of 7 square miles. Fernley began as a small Mormon community in 1864 on an isolated rancho near present-day Reno. In 1880, a post office was established in Fernley and it remained open until 1911. A school was opened in 1896 and became an all-male institution until 1924 when girls were admitted for kindergarten through eighth grade. In 1960, President John F Kennedy appointed Melvin W Lovejoy as president of Fernley High School which remains its current name today. Today, Fernley's economy depends largely on tourism which generates much revenue from conventions and other events held there each year. The first white person to live in what is now Fernley was Hiram Earp who arrived there with his family from Dodge City, Kansas in 1868. His brother Philip also settled there some time later before moving on to claim many more homesteads throughout Nevada including one near modern day Reno where he built a cabin that still stands today known as Earp House National Monument #1). A post office called Earpville was established here around 1870 but never used because no mail could be sent due to steep hills between the two towns (the nearest road ran into Reno). By 1881 however, Earp had moved away again after getting word that gold might be found nearby so another post office - this time called "Fernley" -was established with Prentiss Ewing as Postmaster (later renamed Peoples Bank) pending approval from both local officials and prospectors living nearby; initial results showed good returns but soon competition led to closure of most mines while others failed altogether due to depletion or ore not being available at profitable levels; finally Approved On July 1st 1886 by Ulysses S Grant - thus naming our town for General George Custer himself! As early as 1865 cattle drives had been organized down river from Fort Bridger bringing over thousand head of cattle each month for range work on newly acquired properties including those along what would become Kern River Valley extending all the way northward into present day Carson City whereupon these animals were driven out onto ranches surrounding Kern Valley whence they derived their name: Range Ranchers – henceforth known simply as Ranchers! As hostilities wound down around 1865 things quieted down somewhat within California but not so much among men associated with mining camps along & south of Carson City although plenty of military hardware & supplies continued flowing into these areas en route upriver towards Sacramento via Kearney Pass making possible massive transformation & expansion right here within sight & sound OF San Francisco!!! Just prior Sacramento Gold Rush era started…. 3rd largest city/county west Of Vegas startedgrowin fast!!!!!

In 1928, an inventor by the name of Rayleigh developed a device known as a monochrome camera. It used two light beams coming from two separate lenses to create a single image on paper or film. This allowed photographers and artists to make pictures with much more detail than they could have ever imagined possible before. From 1932 until 1957, Sony Corporation produced one of the first color TVs which used red and green lasers instead of mechanical mirrors for capturing images

Today, Fernley is a small community located just east of Reno on State Route 160A. It has a population of about 200 residents and is home to several businesses including a post office (1895), banks (1922-present), two restaurants (1986-present), and two elementary schools (1912-present). Fernley began as a cattle ranching community on the eastern edge of what is now Reno County seat of Carson City. Its founder, James C. Fernley, took up ranching because he believed that it would provide abundant access to water resources necessary for agricultural production in what was then an arid region near Lake Tahoe. In 1875, Fernley moved his family from their original farmstead west of Sacramento to what would become Fernley along with other settlers in April 1865 when California became part of the United States after Mexico ceded control of most Central America to Washington in 1848. By 1870, much of present-day Carson City had been developed as a result of Mexican land grants dating back to 1846; this area included parts of today’s Carson City and Nevada townships as well as sections of Fallon and Winnemucca counties within Nevada proper.* By 1880*, many families had established themselves on ranches northeastof Kern County’s capital city Yuba City; these people werelater referredto as “Fernleys” because they were closely related to J[ames] C[harles]. In 1879, Fernley became the first town in what is now Carson City County when it was split from Washoe County. By 1907, Fernley had grown to over 20 buildings and boasted a population of over 3000 people. The town's economy depended on agriculture until the late 1800s when mining became more common; however, Fernley still remained an important center for trade and commerce. In 1898, a school was built in the town and remains in use today.
