Henderson, Nevada is a city in southeastern Clark County, Nevada. The population was 105 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Reno–Tahoe Metropolitan Statistical Area. The history of Henderson goes back to 1875 when it was founded as a small settlement on the edge of what is now northeast Reno by LDS missionaries working for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1899, Henderson became the county seat and was designated as the site for an agricultural fair that attracted many farmers from around California who were looking for new land to farm after their state passed legislation allowing such selections. A few years later during World War II when military construction increased along Interstate 40 east of Reno so that truck traffic could be diverted south onto I-40 instead of routing through downtown Reno where there were delays caused by intersections with adjacent streets blocks away - Moses Fenton opened up what became known as Fenton's gravel pit near present day Veterans Memorial Boulevard down canyon past Springdale Road on what is now eastern end of Green Valley Ranch property just outside outskirts town limits - this led inexorably to development around Moses' quarry area with housing developments built parallel to I-40 corridor northward towards Stroudsburg/Merrillville while businesses clusters developed around shopping malls/ interstate highway exits serving these areas - today we see remnants both visible within city limits thanks largely to streetlights running red during late night hours & restricted access due mainly to control measures taken by local officials since preemption efforts commenced more than 20 years ago

Henderson was founded by Mormon missionaries in 1858 and named for Hyrum Smith, one of the two prophets of Mormonism who were martyred in Utah during the 1840s. The first post office in Henderson was established on January 1, 1860, and remained open until it was discontinued on July 14, 1912. The first resident minister to serve Henderson was John Fenton from 1865 to 1870. A new courthouse and jail were built in 1871-72 by local men with help from the Mormon Church. In 1888, construction began on a railroad station which would become the nucleus of modern Henderson. The town gradually grew as people came to work on the railway or purchase land within its limits. By 1910 there were over 10 businesses in Henderson with a total population of 21,000 people
