Bound Brook, New Jersey is a town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 11,549 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden–UMass metropolitan area. Bound Brook was incorporated as a borough on March 15, 1874, from portions of Rahway and South Brunswick Township. On November 3, 1898, it became an independent city when it merged with Camden to form the Camden- Bound Brook metropolitan area. Bound Brook's history dates back to 1686 when William Penn patented land in what is now Bound Brook Township. In 1727 Stephanus Van Cortlandt built his first mill in what is now Bound Brook Township and began production of flour and other goods for sale in Rahway and South Brunswick Townships. By 1800 there were twenty mills in the township producing flour, sugarcane syrup (forSyrup Hill), cheese, salt pork (from Saltsburgh), candles and other products. In 1824 George Washington was visiting Bound Brook when he stopped at the mill on Mill Road near present-day Woodbridge Township for dinner with his generals at Mount Auburn Palace. The President's written account of that meal mentions "a very good dish of pottage" made from ground beef or mutton which he had no trouble digesting because it had been cooked over a hot fire: "It was about four hours since I left my lodgings; I am arrived hereabout supper time today...I dined last night at your house my Generals; they did me great honor by sending me such a excellent dish of pottage." The first brick building in what is nowboundbrookwas erected by John Fenton on February 25th 1834 as a schoolhouse for children attending schools established by Reverend Samuel Morse within the boundaries of Rahway Township freehold land grants given to him by Governor James Ketchum pursuant to an act entitled An act supplementary to an act passed December 4th [1821]. A second brick building (now used as First Methodist Episcopal Church) was erected next door on October 2nd 1835 having cost $6000 paid through contributions from local merchants who were also beneficiaries of Reverend Morse's school program including David Sandscipleson (the father-in-law of noted architect Peter J . Hahn). The Revs., Drs., Mrss., Geo Wm Whitehurst & others labored hard during those early years erecting these two buildings without any government funding or assistance only receiving pledges from individual citizens/merchants willing to help out financially however due credit card payments still continue through this organization still going strong today! From this humble beginnings we have come…to be one tenthousand people residing within our borders today!

He named it after his original landing place on Long Island. It wasn't until 1764 that the town of Bound Brook was formally formed from parts of two other towns: Saddleback and Middletown Township (now Westwood). At first, Bound Brook functioned as just one small village surrounded by farmland. However, over time development began to occur in both villages and finallyBoundbrook came into its own as an incorporated municipality on April 14, 1853. On September 11th of that year Union General James Butler announced plans for a major invasion of Mexico and ordered all available forces into action; this led to increased trade between America and Europe which brought new settlers tothe area including many German immigrants who arrived around 1854-1855. During World War IIboundBrook served as Headquarters for the First U.S Army Corps in North Africa where General Omar Bradley had commandeered Fort Monmouth for use as an airfield during the Allied invasion of Sicily in March 1943; thereafter it continued to be used by American troops until withdrawal from Tunisia in May 1945. In 1951 boundBrook became a Borough within Monmouth County following passage of legislation providing municipal services with a four-year staggered term approach unlike most boroughs which were created immediately following county lines changes resulting from state takeover during prohibition days (October 15th through December 5th). The borough's nameakes reference to its history--bound Brooklyn since early timesmeaning "from here everything can come." In recent years numerous businesses have opened up along Route 10 close to the train station including Dunkin' Donuts, Subway, Barnes & Noble - all while property values have continuedto rise making this one of the fastest growing communities in NJ

Bound Brook is one of the most ethnically diverse towns in New Jersey and has a history that spans over 350 years. It was originally part of Hunterdon County and served as the capital of that county from 1785 to 1801. Bound Brook was incorporated as a township on February 17, 1838, from portions of Burlington Township. The earliest settlers were Dutch and British colonists who arrived around 1684-85 for religious reasons. In 1821, Hunterdon County was divided into two parts – North Hunterdon and South Hunterdon – which led to the name change for Bound Brook Township to Middlesex County. The first post office opened inbound on October 20th, 1823 (the date being changed due to an error). The first settler inbound on this current route of the highway was John Biddle who had come there from Perth Amboy on December 2nd, 1800 with his family following shortly after he acquired land grants from Sir George Carteret (the founder of Newark). He built his house "Biddle's Ford" near where Piscataway Road now crosses Cream unit No. 1 (now Broadwalk Avenue) about two miles east of present day downtown Bound Brook. Other early settlers included Eli Whitney (1803-1872), Elias Howe (1812-1893), Alfred Perrine (creek landing; married Lydia Green; died unmarried),chard Warburton (baptized January 10th; buried November 8th 1860) and Salmon Prentiss Sr.(died 1865).

The township of Bound Brook was founded in 1740 by the Lenni Lenape people. The area was first part of Monmouth County, New Jersey, and then Middlesex County. Bound Brook became a part of Union Township in 1838. In 1914, Bound Brook became a borough in Camden Township. On May 15, 1998,Bound Brook Borough was merged into Camden City.
