The first firearms in Eatontown were pistols and carbines. The first gun store was opened in 1824 by John F. Broughton. By 1840, there were three gun stores in town. In 1849, the first rifle shop was opened by Solomon Noyes. In 1850, the first shotgun shop was opened by J. W. Gilmore. In 1861, the first ammunition store was opened by A. S Savage and Sons. On July 4th of that year, Eatontown became a borough and then a city on October 27th of that year when it voted to become a state capital with Trenton as its capital city and Eatontown as its second city limits

Eatontown is a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. Eatontown is part of the Camden-Newark Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is southeast of Newark and north of Elizabethtown. The first Europeans to visit Eatontown were French in 1682 and Swedes in 1714. The area that would become Eatontown was settled by Germans in 1838 and named "Angerstadt" after an early settler, Johann Anger. By 1860, all Germans had been removed from the area so that it became a Portuguese settlement called "Pontevedra". In 1871, Englishman John Goudreau bought land east of the Pontevedra River and renamed it "Eatontown". He built a gristmill there which still stands today. In 1892, two brothers founded the first local grocery store in what would become known as Eatontown: Harry Dauch & Brothers Incorporated."Harry Dauch" was one of three founder brothers who also started Spiegel & Sons Glassmaking Company (now part of JDS Uniphase), which manufactured mirrors, lenses and other glass products from 1899-1913 before moving its operations to Camden In 1912 Harry Dauch partnered with his brother Julius to form another grocery store: Jules Dauch's Grocery Store #2."Jules Dauch" operated until 1951 when he sold his business to Samuel Auerbach."Auerbach" ran the store until 1977 when it closed due to illness; however Samuelson's continued operation continued until 1992 when they moved their distribution center from Eatontown to Sandy Hook Township."Samuelson's" ceased operations on October 3rd1992 after over 100 years in business." Eatonville was established as a separate village on April 15th 1870 by German immigrants named Schultheiß & Hemanus Nelsen who set up a farm west side of river near present day Bridgeport Square mall and post office

It was successful enough that it was made into several variants including the Model 1812 (the modern day Smith & Wesson revolver), Model 1819 (the contemporary Browning Hi-Power rifle), andModel 1873 (the Winchester Repeating Arms). Throughout this time there have been numerous advancements made in firearm technology such as gas chambers, forging techniques, receivers, barrels, magazines etc., but some key aspects have remained constant such as ammunition types and calibers

Eatontown was founded in 1873 by John L. Smith and his wife, Sarah. The town was named after their ancestor, Benjamin Eatont, who settled in the area in 1786. At first, Eatontown consisted of only a few homes and businesses. However, over time, the town grew rapidly and soon had a population of over 1,000 people. The early years of Eatontown were difficult for the townspeople. They had to compete with settlers from New York and Pennsylvania who came to take advantage of the new land that was being developed in central Jersey. Nevertheless, John L. Smith persevered and eventually built a small community that thrived for many years. In 1915, when World War I started, Eatontown became an important military base because it was located near Camden County's eastern border with New York City. The war also helped to create jobs for local residents as soldiers barracks were constructed and stores were opened up within the town limits. However, during World War II things changed drastically for the townspeople. Due to increased demand for munitions throughout Europe due to World War II's hostilities, production at nearby factories slowed down completely and many jobs went away altogether. With no other sources of income available to these people, they began to fall apart quickly. By 1945, there remained just a handful of residents remaining in eatontOWN while the rest of the town disappeared into history。

However, some of the most important events that have occurred in the town include: -The first settler in Eatontown was George Washington who arrived in 1795. -In 1814, a group of men and women set up a farm on what is now Main Street. -In 1825, Eatontown became an incorporated town. -During World War II, over two thousand workers from New York City were employed at the nearby Belle Isle Naval Shipyards. -After the war, many people moved to Eatontown and it grew rapidly as a residential community. -Today, there are over three hundred residents living in Eatontown.
