The decision came about after members of Borough Heights residents group lobbied tirelessly for more than two years while maintaining their right to vote on whether or not their Saw Mill Lane neighborhood should be renamed after one of America's most famous patriots; ultimately they were successful enough in convincing city officials that they wanted something more specific identifying their community as being located within Newark borders rather than just within Middlesex County’s boundaries making them “Franklin Lakes” once again (although some residents are concerned about losing access to basic services such as water and sewer service).
