Glen Rock is a borough in Middlesex County, New Jersey. The population was 5,914 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York City metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Glen Rock were Dutch traders and fur traders in 1624-25. They brought over a number of plants, animals and tools with them when they came ashore on the Delaware River estuary. In 1764, James DeWitt founded the town of Glen Rock on land purchased from the Native Americans by his brother-in-law John Moore. In 1806, ownership of the town passed from Moore to DeWitt’s son George Washington DeWitt II. In 1828-29, portions of western GlenRock were annexed to Trenton as part of a larger township reorganization which also included Hackensack and Perth Amboy. In 1835, Abraham Lincoln was elected President of the United States; he visited Trenton for two days before returning home to Springfield, Illinois via Newark–Jersey City railway on November 15th (the day after his inauguration). He arrived in Trenton just before nightfall so that he could be driven into Princeton Cemetery by horseback while traveling through central NJ on his way back to Springfield. On November 16th morning there was much excitement throughout Trenton as Mr Lincoln's body lay in state in front of Pennsylvania Station until it was removed moments later for burial within Princeton Cemetery under very difficult conditions due to frozen ground caused by recent snowstorms which had smashed windows all over town! This event helped contribute significantly to the growth and development of Trenton during its early years as an important commercial center dealing with transportation needs for goods moving between New York City and Philadelphia or Baltimore or other major cities across America etc etc etc... However this period ended with World War II when most manufacturing activity switched from America towards Europe because wartime production requires large amounts of heavy materials like Steel etc which are not easily transported across oceans
