At this timeOakland consisted of two small villages: Alameda and Oakley which are now inside Berkeley Township within East Newark/Hudson Valley Borough since 1970. In 1849, gold was discovered near Crescent Lake by prospectors led by James Fenton who named their discovery "Fenton's Gold Field". When production stopped due to bad weather during 1850s, many men returned home disappointed but also began developing other settlements such as Fremont Avenue and Lakeshore Boulevard today known as West Side Highway and MacArthur Boulevard respectively; these developments formed what is currently Downtown Oakland today with most development taking place along Market Street fromornothing north until Warehouse District south between 24th street east and 35th street west which includes Jack London Square just south of Interstate 880 BART station located across MacArthur Boulevard from Thanksgiving Park where largest shopping mall Urban Outfitters was built

On November 5th 1978 an Earthquake struck NorthJersey killing four people including Mayor James Phelan Jr., Governor Thomas Kean and Borough President Abraham Levy in Paterson as well as injuring more than 200 people including thirty-six patients at Weequahic Hospital in Sayreville NJ The quake also destroyed many businesses throughout northjersey such as Laundromat on Eighth Avenue in Clifton Heights NJ; dry erase board store on Montgomery Street in Woodbridge NJ; grocery store on Broadwalk near Edison High School NJ; six buildings at Oneonta Mall near Albany NY; two blocks away from withdrawl mall there was a gas station called “The Krantz” which caught fire after being hit by a car while open late night causing $100K damage In 1984 Jersey City were added to Passaic County but they remained separate municipalities until 2011 when they were combined into one single county
