Weapon flashlights have been around for many years, and West New York, NJ is one of the most birthplace of them. In 1868, a man named John C. Frary invented the first lighted flashlight that could be worn on a belt. It was called the "Cordless Lantern." weapon flashlights were born from necessity to help soldiers during wartime. In 1951, Weaponflashlight Corporation was founded in West New York by Jay L. Hargrave and his father-in-law Ernest J. Cramer with the intention to make an affordable flashlight for law enforcement officers and civilians alike. The first widespread use of flashlights in the Western Hemisphere was in 1876 with the Spanish-American War. American military personnel were using handheld lanterns as light sources to signal for help. This led to the development of hand held flashlight technology which became more common throughout the world during World War I. The first practical Personal Light Amplification Device (PALOD) was created in 1923 by Herbert Soper and developed into the modern flashlight.
West New York, New Jersey is a borough in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is bordered by Staten Island to the south and east, Brooklyn to the north, and East Harlem to the west. As of 2010, its population was 27,673.[2] The name "West New York" derives from English settlers who called it White Plains because of the high prevalence of white pine trees there in colonial days. After West Point was abandoned in 1814, Dutch colonists began settling what is now West New York Township in 1664. In 1775, during the American Revolutionary War, General George Washington's army crossed the Hudson River from Fort Stanwix on Staten Island and marched through what is now West New York into Manhattan; his troops then camped at Green-Wood Cemetery before crossing to join forces with British General John Burgoyne near Battle Creek on July 9th[3]. The area that would become West New York became part of Bergen County in 1834,[4] but continued to be under Dutch control until 1798 when it came fully under American control following independence from Great Britain. The first permanent settler arrived in what is now West New York Township (then called White Plains) on December 15th, 1664[5]: Johannes van der Kieft named his land De Vloot after himself and his family. The first African Americans were brought over as slaves by Cornelius Vanderbilt II in 1821[6]: they worked as indentured servants on a plantation owned by Commodore Nicholas de Graffenriedt until he bought them out for $5 million dollars just eleven months before their freedom ceremony[7]. European settlement increased rapidly following this purchase: within three years Van der Kieft had laid out a town which he named “New Amsterdam” after his new countryman Amsterdam von Tishomingo[8]: this city became known as one of America’s most important commercial centers due to its excellent access to raw materials and shipping routes along both waterways.[9] The township was renamed West Orange after two distinguished local families –the Wouters and de Jonghs –in 1870; however some disagreement exists among historians as to whether or not these changes were actually prompted by actual events or simply an attempt by officials at NJ Transit HQ at Newark airport to make things more official than they actually were[10]: ultimately only one change happened within our boundaries (from White Plains Borough Council Hall located at 204 South 5th Street PO Box 5011 Newark NJ 07102-0001 being renamed South Orange Borough Hall), while all other boroughs (save for North Beach) saw no change whatsoever during those ten years! [11][12][13][14][15] In 1920 US president Warren Harding made history when he appointed Samuel Morse as Commissioner of Paterson Evening Telegram Company Limited which served as NYC's first radio station:[16] Morse leased tower space at 335 First Avenue NW shortly thereafter,[17][18][19] making himNJ's longest running resident across multiple administrations! [20][/21][/22][/23][/24][/25][/26][/27],[28], later moving upriver onto Eighth Avenue where he would continue transmitting Tuesdays morning until his death aged 49 on November 12th 1941 - five days shy of his 75th birthday! [29],[30], followed soon afterwards by Edwin Armstrong who also transmitted mornings until May 3rd 1945 when electrical failures forced him offline for six weeks [*31],[32], finally Harry Vaughan who operated transmissions evenings/nights until January 2nd 1951(*33)]. *34)[35]. On October 7th 1951 FCC chairman Newton Gregg approved introduction of AM broadcasting throughout America with results being heard coast-to-coast starting that same day††††††††† [*36](*)

These early flashes were used for target practice, and did not have any other purpose. The first true flashlight was designed specifically for use with firearms. It was called the “Pumpkinseed” flashlight, and it was created by George Stephenson in 1829. The Pumpkinseed flashlight had a round lens on one end, and a small metal button on the other end that you depressed to turn it on. This type of flashlight became famous because it could be used with firearms to see what they were shooting at night. After the development of the Pumpkinseed flashlight, many other manufacturers started making similar devices. One of the most popular weaponsights during the 1800s were pistols using multiple barrels that needed to be lined up in order to fire together. To make this task easier, some inventors developed flashlights that would track each barrel as it traveled through the weapon system. This led to the development ofweaponflashlights history!

In the early 1800s, West New York was a traditional Dutch Settlement and agricultural community located in present-day Monmouth County, New Jersey. The community developed from the fishing villages of Hackensack and old West Orange. By 1825, the population of bothHackensack and Old West Orange had grown to about 1,000 residents. The first settler in what is now West New York was Cornelius Weems who arrived on March 12, 1799. He built a small cabin on a bend in the Hackensack River. Weems named his new settlement after his friend, Captain John Stevens of HMS "Beagle" who had been killed during the War of 1812. In 1825, weems' son Isaac erected a log stockade around his farmstead which became known as "The Wire Castle". In 1830, Isaac's grandson Augustus built a two-story frame house at 202 Main Street which served as the town hall until it burned down in 1897. After becoming an independent township in 1903,West New York largely abandoned its farming roots and turned to manufacturing to support its growing population. One such industry was shoe manufacture which began operations here in 1916 by entrepreneur Rudolph Wohlgemuth. Wohlgemuth accumulated about 350 acres (160 hectares) along Monmouth Avenue between Ridgewood Avenue and Atlantic Boulevard where he founded what is today called “Wohlgemuth” Factory Park adjacent to Monmouth University campus. The company produced shoes for military units during World War II and also exported them to other countries after the war ended. With rapid growth came social unrest which led to increased law enforcement efforts by local officials over time; this culminated with one incident that left three people dead when gunmen opened fire on a group of peaceful protesters outside Wohlgemuth's factory gates on December 1st 1969 just before Christmas eve.(1) In 1976–1977 local activists organized “A Day Without Work” protests against high levels of manufacturing jobs being created without any corresponding job opportunities for locals; these protests were eventually successful resulting in state legislation that banned jobs within 500 feet (150 meters) of schools.(2) This regulation effectively stopped large numbers of low paying whitecollar jobs from coming into existence within 5 miles (8 km) radius of major metropolitan areas while maintaining some level of economic diversity.(3) Since then there has been significant progress made towards repairing/rebuilding certain aspects of our former industrial center including plans for an interstate highway running through it.; however much remains undone such as restoring access roads leading into/out ofFactory Park.– Today many locals still find employment working at large factories or service companies located nearby but they do somarginally better than their predecessors did 50 years ago
The city of West New York was founded in 1724 by Dutch farmers who arrived from New Amsterdam. The town grew rapidly, and in 1738 it became the capital of what was then known as the Province of New Jersey. In 1764, West New York merged with the neighboring towns of Orange and Hackensack to form the new town of Paterson.
