These villages grew rapidly due to easy access to water resources, good grazing land, and plentiful forests nearby; however, they were not immune to ethnic violence or social isolationism caused by their proximity to Anglo-Saxon miners who were dominant within their respective societies. A series of religious conversions led some Anglo-Mexican farmers south of Isleta into new areas called Catron County between 1836-1840 while other Anglo miners continued seeking gold at Pecos Wellsite until its discovery abandoned by prospectors in 1865 due largely to technological advances made possible by railroad construction across America which shortened travel time from sources such as San Miguel de Allende
