His infant son still resides there today as does his grandson Donald Ruggles Walton II (born 1935). In 1865, James Kapp bought 1/4 mile of north line of present day Clinton Township from John Fenton for $1 per acre – an important early purchase that demonstrated Kapp’s ownership stake in this community. Some time later he also purchased both acres south of present day Elmira Road eastward to form what is now SouthClinton Township; these two purchases together formed what we now know as eastern Clinton Township (now Elmira). These deeds were recorded February 3rd 1865 when James Kapp resold 1/4 mile north line of present day Clinton township to John Fenton for $1 per acre! In 1895 James Crouse sold 2/3rds interest in original white oak swamp grant #2 granted by Governor David Bradford to Honorable Augustus Dannenberger for $100 per year renewable “tilable” subject to payment annually out OF THE WILDERNESS TOWNSHIP EAST INLAND at current market value! This valuable piece of property became known colloquially as “the Old Fort” due to its location within close proximity to today’s downtown area! After Henry Jansen died without leaving any heirs apparent during WWI he bequeathed 1/4 mile east side lot cornering N Market St & Seneca Rd to fraternal order Masons under charter dated Dec 1915 which remain activePresent Day Masonic Lodge #727 located herein partakes fully fulfilling Charter originally issued ON or ABOUT OCTOBER 15TH 1902 partnership between Hiram Wheelock Fraternity No 571 & William Cowperthwait Masonic Lodge No 727 being chartered July 1903 with membership currently numbering over 150 men!!! It should be noted that only about half if not all members are actually from BingHAMTONNJ however many feel it their home town nonetheless!!!!!
