Firearm enthusiasts and collectors from all over the United States come to White Plains, New York each year to buy, sell, or just look at firearms. By 1825, White Plains had a population of just over 1,000 people. The Gunchester rifle factory began production in 1827 and became one of the leading firearms manufacturers in America. The company produced rifles, shotguns, pistols and revolvers. In 1849, White Plains became part of the new town of Troy. But even though Troy wasn't as big as White Plains, it still attracted many residents to its thriving gun industry. White Plains is a small town in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 21,859 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York City Metropolitan Area. The townsite of White Plains was settled in 1785 by Captain John Smith and his party as part of the survey for what would become Albany, New York. By 1800, White Plains had a population of only 100 persons. In 1814–1815, during the War of 1812, General James Wilkinson's army passed through White Plains on their way to battle against Gen. George Washington at Trenton. The town was burned by American forces on December 3rd, 1814; one hundred years later it remains one of America's most destroyed communities. But even in its destruction wrought by war and error there were some early pioneers who built up this little community—namely: Samuel Morse (1763-1837), the inventor of electricity and co-founder with Eli Whitney (1802-1848) of Whitney’s Cotton Gin Company; Robert Fulton (1767-1843), who started the first steamboat trip from Buffalo to Harlem in 1825; and Augustus Kelley (1789-1875), an Episcopal priest who founded Stony Point Academy and served as President pro tempore of the State Senate from 1835 to 1840. White Plains is a town in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 9,865 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York City Metropolitan Area. The town was first settled in 1792 by Loyalists from Nova Scotia and refugees from General George Washington's army during the American Revolution. The name derives from " White Plains", which was a small village near present-day Scarsdale. The original white settlers were farmers and their families who built log cabins on rolling hills between 1792 and 1810. They raised beef and sheep, but soon realized that they could not do this alone with no resources to support them. A group of men, led by Nicholas Coleridge, bought some land east of Scarsdale in 1814 for $1 per acre (0.50/.99). This became White Plains Manor park today. In 1822–24, James Kapp founded Kapp & Company flour mills on the north side of White Plains River as part of his efforts to create a center for industrial production in western New York State beyond Syracuse and Buffalo; these mills are now operated by Weingarten Flour Mills Incorporated. In 1830, Isaac Novell took over management from Kapp & Company after the death of its founder; he also began marketing what became known as "Nova Sceptre" bread products throughout central New York State through his company Novell Breads Limited until it merged into Unilever plc in 1978 (the merger made White Plains one of Unilever's North American business units). During Reconstruction following the Civil War many African Americans migrated to White Plains because it offered opportunities to work on farms or buy property outsideof slavery while still living under freedom rules set forth by Union forces occupying southern New York Territory following the war. Many blacksmiths/bootmakers moved here as well since there were few other places where wrought iron could be produced cheaply enough for commercial use outside Illinois or Pennsylvania (the so-called Iron Mountain region). Businesses such as bootblack shops opened up across Whitespine Township starting about 1870 due to an increase in demand for shoes brought back west during the Civil War by courier companies such as Stagecoach Lines (and later Pony Express) along with military veterans returning home on veteran's pensions after services ended around 1865 among others including Anthony Howe who established Howe Boot & Shoe Co., then Howe Bros Hardware before becoming president/chief executive officer of Sears Roebuck and Company In 1902 developments began at 214 W Main Street wherefabricated house Noël Coward lived before moving out when his agents discovered that he had been engaging in sexual relationships with two female actresses working for him - one named Mayella Copley and one unnamed girl - both underage at the time! These events led Coward to distance himself physically from most people associated with show business prior to his death six years later at age 83 surrounded by family members including wife Edith Guinness Coward who wrote an autobiography called Memoirs Of An Unknown Woman about her husband's life posthumously After Naish left there was significant growth in real estate prices taking place mainly due to investment flows coming into town caused largely by factors like traffic backups occasioned both during snowstorms generated largely by airlines making extensive runs through Westchester County during wintertime periods leading up to 2003 Superstorm Sandy which created mayhem along much of Long Island resulting primarily in power outages affecting large parts Brooklyn Empire state Park continued high rates especially offshoot areas such as Valhalla

In 1764, the area now known as White Plains was part of Albany County. The first permanent settler in what is now White Plains was Nicholas Colonna, who arrived in 1768. He built a cabin on the site that still stands today. In 1775, James Kieft purchased land from Colonna and settled it into a small town named after him, Kieftstown. In 1814, the United States acquired New York from France through the Treaty of Paris. New York became an American state and White Plains became its capital. In 1821, Congress established a Territorial government for what is now Westchester County and White Plains became its seat. White Plains experienced heavy growth during the 19th century due to its strategic location at the junction of three major transportation routes:the Erie Canal (to Buffalo),the Hudson River Railroad (to New York City) andthe Long Island Railroad (to points south). By 1900,White Plains had over 20 buildings 200 residents and had become one of the most important industrial cities in America.
