When Hendersonville was founded in 1792, it was one of the earliest towns in the new United States. The town sprang up around a forte, or fortification, and quickly became an important center for trade and culture. One of the most famous landmarks in Hendersonville is the old Courthouse, which still stands today. The courthouse was built between 1810 and 1812 by James Gillespie. It served as a federal court house until 1865. Many of Hendersonville's early residents were men who had fought in the American Revolution and/or who had volunteered to serve in the Confederate army during the Civil War. Many of these men stayed in Hendersonville after their military careers ended and started families here. Some also took up farming or commerce as their new career goals. Hendersonville is a town located in Henderson County, North Carolina. The population was 5,392 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Henderson County. The name "Hendersonville" was given to the town by General John Ramsey during the American Revolution. The first store in Hendersonville was built onpresent-day Main Street in 1796 by James Lowry. In 1814, Colonel James Wilkinson donated land to build a courthouse and jail in Hendersonville. The first school in Hendersonville opened in 1824 and continued to serve as the primary school until 1903 when it became part of Western Piedmont High School. In 1907, Colonel George Stephenson donated land for a new high school which served as Hendersonville Technical Institute until it merged with Western Piedmont High School in 2002. In 1922, Mrs. Florence Aiken founded the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville which remains active today with over 1,000 members strong. In 1959, Drs. Leroy Kapp and Clyde Schermerhorn developed what would become one of America's most famous agricultural exports - white soybeans - while working at NC State University's Agricultural Research Station at Triangle Park near Chapel Hill. They named their product "Kapp Soybeans" after themselves and continue to market their product under that name today (though they no longer grow soybeans). After moving from Raleigh to Asheville in 1967, they founded an agricultural precision farming center called Kapp Research & Development Center which continues to be one of America’s leading agronomic research outfits today.. Drs. Kapp and Schermerhorn are enshrined as “ Founders of Modern Agriculture” by ACPfed magazine.. Today their son David Kapp oversees all aspects of agriculture research for NC State University – including crop production; soil science; agronomy; animal husbandry; food safety; marketing – and provides leadership for this important field across many fields within agriculture across North Carolina and beyond.? Overall, Hendersonvillette has seen significant growth over time due its close proximity to major cities like Raleigh/Durham (including both light industry employment centers) as well as its natural resources such as forests full of oak trees used for lumbering or papermaking., Manufacturing jobs have also moved away from rural areas towards big city locations such as Durham or Cary but these jobs often require technical skills related to robotics or 3D printing so there is still some residual economic activity taking place hereabouts

To make way for Johnson's army, local farmers cleared land and built homes near what is now downtown Hendersonville. The town was renamed after General Henderson in 1863 when he became president of the United States. Voluntarily joining Union Army during the war, Hendersonville played a significant role in helping secure victory for America over Confederate forces. After the war ended, many of Hendersonville's citizens returned home and started anew as their new community grew strong with businesses and families."
