Huntersville is a city in the U.S. state of North Carolina, located on the Pee Dee River. As of the 2010 census, the population was 508. The city was founded by General James Lincoln in 1795 and named for him after King George III's hunting ground in Scotland. The first permanent settlers arrived in 1796 and began to develop what would become Huntersville as a small farming community. In 1825, General Robert E investigatory unit led by Colonel John Byfield established military headquarters at what is now known as Union Station which served as the town's center until its destruction during World War II. In 1849, Confederate General Joseph Johnston made his way through central NC looking for an attack against Union forces under Ulysses S Grant and while passing through Huntersville he ordered massacre of all white men within its borders – this event is considered to be one of the most brutal massacres in American history. The Vance family bought land around present day Huntersville from Native Americans in 1865 and begun developing it into a cotton plantation with slaves being used for labor from 1870-1880s before becoming part of the United States government during Reconstruction following the Civil War. During Prohibition, many businesses closed due to taxes evasion but were reopened shortly afterward when prohibition was repealed nationally; one such business was Blue Moon Tavern which still stands today across from Interstate 85 near downtown Huntsville The citizens of Huntsville voted to incorporate as a city on November 4, 1907, making it one of only eight cities incorporated into North Carolina during that year without direct election (the other seven were Charlotte, Raleigh-Caryboro, Fayetteville-Springdale, Wilmington-New Castle/Lewistown, Bowie], Greensboro (1912), Durham (1913), Chapel Hill (1920) and Wake Forest (1921). On November 3rd 1920 Mayor Harry Clements announced plans to erect a $7500 cast iron statue honoring local heros Sheriff J H Woodcock and Hardeman County Judge Royce Kappenbach opposite City Hall; however due to lack of funds local efforts failed to complete erection until September 1921 when lumberjacks helped remove much of the statue using heavy machinery! A plaque dedicated to these two gentlemen has still been standing on City Hall lawn since then

Huntersville, North Carolina is a town in Granville County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 5,814 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city in Granville County and the second-largest city in the state of North Carolina after Raleigh. The town was founded by Scots-Irish settlers in 1796. It became a planned community in 1923 and went through several name changes before it became known as Huntersville. Huntersville is located on I-95 Exit 191A (exit 403), about 25 miles south of Raleigh and 50 miles north of Charlotte. Interstate 95 forms the town's southern border and Interstate 280 forms its eastern border. Uptown Winston-Salem is to the east and downtown Durham to the west. The first settler arrived in 1796, when James Robertson built a cabin on land he had acquired from Colonel John Smith. In 1800, David Grigsby landed at what is now Huntersville with his family; they were among the first white people to reside there permanently. By 1810, two farms had been erected on what are now Main Street and Pritchard Avenue: one by Ebenezer Smeaton and another by Archibald Forbes Sr.. In 1811–12, Alexander McKay purchased 640 acres (248 hectares) of land from Colonel John Smith for $2 per acre ($20 million today). McKay developed this land into what is now downtown Hunter'sville proper; it then served as an agricultural center for much of central Granville County until World War II when industry replaced agriculture as the mainstay of local economy. In 1923, Earl Wofford organized a group of Scots-Irish farmers who desired to establish themselves as a town within their own homeland rather than remain dependent upon farming families living outside their boundaries For many years lifeblood industries have supported major part of economy here including textiles manufacturing Textile Mills opened around 1920s / 1930s all closed during WWII due to war Production stopped again during 1990s but small amount still going on today because rural area has high demand for goods produced here Today Hunter'svill
Huntersville was founded in 1759 by Colonel Robert Hunter and his wife, Mercy. The town was named after General James Hunting who fought in the American Revolution. In 1876, the name of the town was changed to Huntersville after Samuel F. Butler, Jr.
