Knightdale is a small town in the far northwestern corner of North Carolina, located on the Yadkin River. It has a population of about 3,000 people and is home to two gun stores, a post office, and a few restaurants. The town also had its first firearm store in 1876. The store was called the Knight’s Armory and was run by John Knight. In 1898, the Knights bought an old mill site upstream from town and built a new armory there that became known as the Knightdale Armory. The store continued to be operated by the Knights until it burned down in 1954. The first handgun sales in North Carolina took place at the Knightdale Armory on Valentine’s Day, 1876. That same year, Captain David Hill of Company K of the 2nd Battalion (North Carolina Volunteers) purchased two pistols from John Knight at the armory. Because handguns were not legal to purchase without a license then, this event is considered to be the birth of firearms ownership in North Carolina. A significant milestone for firearms ownership in Knightdale occurred on November 5th, 1918 when Second Lieutenant Clarence Aiken of Company C (3rd Battalion) New York Engineers participated in ceremonies marking Armistice Day at which he purchased his very first handgun from John Knight at the armory. This event marked one of many purchases by lieutenant Aiken during World War II with guns being acquired for military service as well as civilian use throughout Vance County (including King Store). In 1951, facilities within the now defunct First National Bank building were used to open what would become known as “The Gun Shop” which served as both primary dealer for handguns and importer/exporter for many brands including Colt revolvers and Smith & Wesson cartridge guns throughout Vance County until it closed its doors in 1982 due to financial difficulties. At that time handgun sales stopped entirely within First National Bank premises except for occasional sales through other dealers outside of town during special events or if there was excess inventory available from other retailers inside First National Bank itself.. This marks another significant milestone for firearms ownership here because it provided local retail opportunities for consumers whereas prior thereto only government or military suppliers offered such opportunities.. Today only five handguns remain unaccounted-for within First National Bank premises along with several dozen rifles and shotguns stored elsewhere within Vance County although those Firearms Sales are conducted briefly each season through various private sellers outside of county limits during Gun Shows held annually either inside or outside First National Bank premises depending upon availability

The first firearms were brought to Knightdale in the early 1800s. The area was at that time part of the Cherokee Nation. A group of English settlers, known as the Loyalists, fled from British rule and arrived in Knightdale in 1775. They started a new town called Newtown which they named after their home country. The English settlers also brought some guns with them and began using them to fight against Indian hostility. By 1814, Knightdale had a population of about 350 people and 20 guns. In that year, the United States acquired Tennessee from Spain and made it a territory of the United States. As part of this process, eastern Georgia became included within Knightdale boundaries. This change meant that gun ownership increased in Knightdale as people realized they could now protect themselves from Indians by owning firearms.

Knightdale is a town in Robeson County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 3,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Raleigh-Durham Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first known reference to this place comes from a deed from William Byrd III to his brother James in 1785. The land that now makes up Knightdale was then east of what is now Chapel Hill and south of Durham. At that time it was part of the Yadkin River District. Knightdale's early growth can be traced back to 1848 when John Witherspoon transferred 160 acres (64 ha) from his estate in Gaston County to become part of Robeson County and form the nucleus for future development in this area. This gift by Witherspoon helped spur on an influx of new settlers who quickly began clearing land and building homes. In 1875, Jno Burchfield organized what would come to be called the "First Baptist Church" in the town square; this church served as both a religious community center and political outpost during Reconstruction era America. The Knights Templar order also played an important role during Reconstruction; they donated land for schools, churches, and other infrastructure projects throughout Robeson County while also providing protection for voting rights for African Americans. After Reconstruction ended, many displaced black Americans found their way into Knightdale through various means including migration northward or westward along Interstate 95 or downriver via Ulysses S Grant Boulevard into Raleigh-Durham metropolitan area; however most people here continued to identify with their original race and culture until recent times when some have begun To call Knightdale "Blackville" would be an understatement! . . .Today there are more than just black residents living here - everyone who lives here has something unique about them which sets them apart from any other place I've been – whether it's their love of horses & rodeo shows at local events, spending time outside playing football on warm summer days or taking advantage of all that Chapel Hill has to offer!

The town is located on the border of McDowell County and Rutherford County. Knightdale lies within the Durham-Chapel Hill Metropolitan Statistical Area. Knightdale was founded by James Covington in 1815 as a small farmstead named "Covington's Ford". It became a stop on the Charlotte and Raleigh Railroad. In 1868, the town was renamed after General Samuel Peebles Knight who had fought in the American Civil War and later served as governor of North Carolina. In 1901, King Cotton Company founder John Dandridge donated land to form what is now Knightdale National Forest. The forest covers . From 1927 to 1932, Knightdale was one of eight towns in Davidson County chosen for inclusion in the newly created Asheville–Biltmore City metropolitan area. The first post office opened in 1816 and continued until it closed in 1893; it was located east of present day downtown Knightdale on Catawba Creek Road (today's Old State Highway 9). A new post office opened on July 15, 1903, which continued until 1907 when it changed its name to "Dandridge". The first school board meeting took place on October 3rd of that year with H W Dixon serving as chairman Asheville Female Academy began operation from 1911-1914 under then Superintendent Mrs M Fenton and later Mrs B Cashman In 1912 George Washington Carver School started operations also known as White Sands School because students were taught about Native Americans living near them before going onto other subjects like science or math For many years during World War I there were many military bases just outside our city limits including Good Hope Air Force Base 1918 saw the opening of Oakwood Hospital which eventually became Asheboro Medical Center
