As one of the oldest city in the state of North Carolina, Knightdale was a hotspot for firearms enthusiasts from before it even became a municipality. The first known firearm enthusiast group in Knightdale was called the Riflemen, who met to shoot skeet and duck at local ponds. The Gunners quickly grew into a more organized society and began purchasing firearms from various dealers around town. In 1892, they donated their first rifle to the city government as part of renovations to City Hall. Over time, other groups have formed within Knightdale and its surrounding area, including the Pistolers (1930s), Shotgunners (1960s-1970s), Machine Gunners (1970s-1980s), and Air Guns (1980s-present). Today, there are numerousGun Clubs throughout Knightdale that meet for shooting matches, competition or just plain fun! Each Club has its own history and culture that is unique to that Group. One of the earliest known firearm enthusiasts in Knightdale was William Neilson who purchased his first revolver at age 21 from John Hargrave in 1892. That same year saw the beginning of Knightsville’s gun trade which would eventually grow into what is now known as the Armory District. By 1912, there were threegun saloons located in downtown Knightsville with over 100 pistols being sold each day! It wasn’t until World War II when gun sales began booming due to military procurement needs; everything changed during this time! During WWII, many civilians lost their lives due to gunfire incidents happening all around town such as on Beech Street between Rutherford Boulevard and US 701 where more than 20 people were killed after exchanging gunfire with Japanese soldiers. This led to stricter regulation on handguns by both local law enforcement and the United States government which greatly increased handgun ownership among civilians. After WWII ended however, gun ownership decreased significantly because new regulations were put into place such as background checks for all potential purchasers! This trend continued until 1968 when Amendment 2 legalized open carry withinKnightdale limits without any restrictions whatsoever! This amendment also legalized concealed carry by individuals who had a valid permit from law enforcement if they could show identification proving they were not carrying any weapons outside of their home! The Knightdale Armory, which is now the N.C. State Fairgrounds, was founded in 1881 by Major George Stephenson and Captain John Caldwell as the North Carolina Armory Company. The first rifles were built here and the company continued to produce firearms until 1895. In 1916, the armory became part of the NC Gun Works chain and production stopped. In 1934, the company merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company to become Winchester-Winchester firearms Incorporated. The brand name was changed back to Knightdale Armory in 1974.

Knightdale is a town in Johnston County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 2,898 at the 2010 census. Itʼs home to the Knightdale-Macon School District and to the Knightdale Mall which is located within the town limits. Knightdale was founded in 1868 by General Nathaniel P. Banks as a small log cabin community on Catawba River just outside of what is now Johnston County. The name "Knightdale" derived from General Banks' service as military governor of Georgia during the American Civil War. After his death in 1865, his widow donated land at the confluence of two creeks for a new town center and named it after her husband's old regiment, The First Georgia Infantry Regiment (now known as 3rd Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment). The first permanent settler arrived in 1870: John Fenton. The area that became Knightdale soon developed into one of Johnston County's most important agricultural districts due to its fertile soils and access to water resources. In 1907, an act passed by the North Carolina General Assembly designated Knightdale as county seat for Johnston County; this designation remained until 1952 when Chapel Hill became county seat again following a move by then-Governor Seaton Raburn In 1969, plans were made to demolish much of downtown Knightdale in order to make way for an enlarged Knightsville shopping mall that would have included more than 100 stores and restaurants across five levels including an enclosed balcony overlooking Interstate 95A/B southbound lanes. However local opposition led to a referendum result rejecting demolition and instead choosing instead to create a new cultural district around the mall with local businesses occupying buildings adjacent thereto rather than demolish them all together. That same year saw also sawing off of much of what remain today of downtown's Second Street grid plan which had been designed primarily as open space with commercial corridors running along either side thereof - these corridors would be replaced over time with roads leading away from downtown towards Interstate 95A/B northbound lanes and eventually into neighbouring counties such as Moorestown later renamed Moore Twp., Elizabeth City TN., Lenoir City NC., Rutherfordton NC., Burlington NC., Greensboro Nc., Claymont SC., Florence SC., Spartanburg SC.. This process began in earnest on October 15th 1970 when bulldozers descended upon several blocks near Third Street between Gaston Avenue and Main Street destroying almost everything therein including residences dating back centuries while leaving behind evidence of their passage including exposed masonry walls Wellesley Road Bridge Overstream – A fine example both historically speaking & architecturally can still be found today just east of Blacksburg Regional Airport less than ½ mile north Of I-95 South entrance
