Tasers were first introduced in North Carolina in the early 1960s. They were used as a nonlethal weapon and are now considered an essential part of law enforcement. The history of the taser begins with two officers using them to subdue a man who had been threatening them with a knife. In 1974, the NCState legislature passed a bill that allowed tasers to be used as "weapons of choice" by law enforcement officers and judges. The following year, the NC Department of Public Safety adopted guidelines for their use which included information on how to deploy them and when they should be used. In 1987, tasers became state-of-the-art when they were chosen as the weapons of choice for use in officer-involved shootings in North Carolina. This change was made possible due to advances in technology and knowledge about how to best use them. Since then, tasers have been used extensively throughout North Carolina, including during protests, riots, and other types of civil unrest. In 2013, it was announced that tasers would be provided free to all patrol officers statewide within six months through a program called Smart Tasing (www.smarttasingnc.com). This program is designed to reduce fatalities provoked by digital stun guns by providing training on how these devices can be properly employed by police officers statewide.

Despite these risks, many law enforcement agencies across the US and UK continue to use tasers as a form of self-defense. There is no specific reason why this is so; tasers have been shown to be relatively safe when used correctly according to both research and common practice. However, some experts believe that using a weapon like a taser against someone who has already attacked you may not be entirely justified under certain circumstances (Ferguson 2011). For example, if you feel threatened or overpowered by your opponent – for example because he or she was wearing something dangerous or had threatened to kill you – then using force may be appropriate.

Laurinburg is a small town located in Henderson County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. Laurinburg is the county seat of Henderson County. It was founded in 1871 by Scots-Irish immigrants and named for General Sir Lawrence Laurin, who fought in the American Revolution. Laurinburg is a town on the southern edge of Henderson County and is bordered to the north by Morehead City and to the east by Salisbury. The area that now includes Laurinburg was first settled by Scots-Irish immigrants in 1871 after they were removed from their land near Asheville, North Carolina during Reconstruction following the Civil War. The town name comes from General Sir Lawrence Laurin's victory over Native Americans at Battle of Little Big Horn in 1876. On November 12, 1886, local residents approved a charter for what would become Cavalry University which later became UNC-Wilmington. Today, Laurinburg remains an agricultural center with many businesses specializing in food processing or produce marketing including two grocery stores and one farm store as well as several restaurants and other businesses used primarily for services such as lawn care or auto repair. There are also several small businesses related to manufacturing such as a meatpacking plant and machine shops along with some light industry such as a millinery store and fabric shop. In recent years there has been development of new housing developments around town including an apartment complex built on land donated by Trustees of Cavalry University which opened in early 2009 and plans are underway to build another apartment complex just west of town next to Interstate 95 on property donated by JB Hunt Tobacco Co.. Laurinburg has many attractions which include two community golf courses (the Donald Ross Course & Greenbrier Creek course), four parks - White Sands Park, Overlook Park/Creek Lake Recreation Area/, Blue Ridge Parkway Veterans Memorial Park/Municipal Pool & Aquarium/,and three horseback Riding stables - Hickory Hollow stable/Rancho del Apache Stable/, Laurel Forest stable/(formerly Brushy Fork Feeding Station), Willow Glen stable/. The predominant economic activity currently reported within the limits of Laurinberg is agriculture with principal crops being cornmeal, soybeans, wheat flour & feed pellets (& cottonseed oil), potatoes; however some smaller businesses have begun to emerge including: home health aides (Apex Care Services Inc.), physician assistants (Physician Associates | NC PCS inc.), dog walking services (Dogwater Solutions Inc.), pet supplies (Paws 'N' PlayUSA/Petco), web design (Web Design Unlimited)& digital media production (& photo printing). Some notable events that have occurred within or adjacent to this small community over recent years include: Horse racing - both amateur rodeos held annually at White Sands Park between April 11th through 15th featuring horses from all over North Carolina - tractor pulls races staged concurrently throughout most months at Overlook Park off I-95 Attractions typically available for purchase at Community Events Center culminate with Fourth Of July parade which Amenities Expo provides opportunity for spectators to enjoy refreshments before parade departure Live music performances are almost always occurring throughout downtown every Saturday night beginning at 9pm wiht live DJ's
