Aftermath of the Civil War left some people displaced and others struggling economically which may have led some residents in MintHill to choose not to return after 1865 when Reconstruction began in earnest across America. Today there are few reminders remaining of what happened during that time – only an abandoned cotton gin and a few buildings used as shops around Main Street – but it remains a lovely spot nonetheless!

Mint Hill is a small town located in Henderson County, North Carolina. The population was 1,711 at the 2000 census. Mint Hill is part of the Chapel Hill-High Point Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is bordered by Durham to the north and east, Uniontown to the south and west, and Radcliff to the northwest. The townsite was first settled in 1799 by British colonists as a trading post on Catawba Creek. In 1825, Mint Hill became part of Henderson County when it was formed from parts of Caldwell and Orange counties. The community grew rapidly during the years following World War II because of its location near military bases in eastern North Carolina and its access to cheap labor for construction projects around Chapel Hill. Mint Hill experienced significant decline during the late 20th century, however, due to factors such as high levels of traffic and pollution caused by nearby coal mines. However, recent economic development has brought back some growth to MintHill thanks to new businesses such as an office park that opened in 2001, a manufacturing plant that opened in 2006, and a popular restaurant called Blue Ridge Cafe that began serving food there in 2007.
