In 1851, a group of men from Mount Airy, North Carolina set out to improve the accuracy and efficiency of firearms. At the time, guns were still used mostly in hunting and target shooting. The men believed that if they could make the firearms more efficient, they would be less likely to get into trouble with the law. They decided to start by using animal fats as lubricants. This method was not very effective because it caused the firearms to shoot too fast and create sparks. The next idea was to use vegetable oils. However, this method also caused problems because it made the firearms difficult to clean and didn’t provide enough lubrication. Finally, in 1857, a man by the name of John Gist developed an oil based lubricant that was much more effective than any of the previous methods. This method used beeswax as a natural solvent which allowed for safe storage and cleaning of firearms. Gist’s innovation led to gun lubrication becoming one of the most important aspects of handgun safety today!

Lubrification is accomplished through the action of water droplets sliding past one another on a metal surface ( Figure 1 ). When oil or grease slides easily over these tiny bumps and nicks, it forms a film that prevents bacteria from growing and causing jams or other issues with the firearm. Lubrification usually takes place within minutes after you add the lube to your firearm; however, it can take up to several hours for some products if applied properly.

Mount Airy is a small town in the Pisgah National Forest located about 25 miles southeast of Asheville, North Carolina. It was founded in 1853 by Captain John Winchester and his wife, Nancy. The original Mount Airy post office operated from 1853 to 1861. In 1916, it became a station on the Chicago-based Southern Railway. Mount Airy had its first store and restaurant in 1917. The town has experienced growth in recent years, with new businesses opening up and more people moving into the community. The Pisgah National Forest covers 811 square miles (2,700 km²) of mountain country around Mount Airy. The forest is home to over 180 species of trees and 850 bird species including Bald Eagle, Pigeon, Sparrowhawk, Andalusian Owl, Northern Harrier, Osprey and Blackpoll Warbler. There are also many trails that offer a variety of activities for visitors such as hiking or biking. The history of Mount Airy began with Captain John Winchester who settled here in 1853 after returning from his exploratory trip through the area which included travel to Tennessee and Alabama. He named the spot "Mount Airy" after his birthplace on Anglesea Island in Scotland – an appellation he obtained while serving as captain of HMS Discovery during her circumnavigation of the world in 1792-93). The first post office opened at this location on October 1st, 1853; however it closed due to lack of mail volume only eight days later! Gun lubrication has come to be a important part of firearm function and safety, as well as an essential component of any firearm cleaning routine. The modern conception of gun lubrication begins with the development of percussion ignition devices (PID), which allowed firearms to be fired more easily and quickly than ever before. This increased efficiency also led to increased wear on firearms parts, which required greater levels of lube to prevent them from becoming damaged or lost. In response to this need, manufacturers began to develop new types of lube specifically designed for Firearms Use. One such product was The Lubricant Company’s Enlil-4gun series rifle lubes, which were designed for fire control purposes and were used in World War II by the United States Army. These products featured high quality ingredients including vegetable oil, beeswax, manganese dioxide, zinc oxide and aluminum chlorate; all of which made them ideal for prolonging weapon life and preventing corrosion. Over time, other forms of lubrication have become popular within the firearms community: air-sealed lubes are now commonplace in many industries due to their convenience and lack of environmental impact; while traditional “grease” products such as WD-40 are no longer recommended because they can cause skin irritation when used excessively

Mount Airy is a small mountain located in Chatham County, North Carolina. The peak of the mountain is 1,898 feet (521 m) high. Mount Airy was first mentioned in 1735 when John Adams named it for his friend and business partner, Arthur Mount. The first settlers who came to what is now Chatham County were men from New England who founded the town of Salisbury on the mountain in 1778. An early settler named David Hill built a cabin on top of the mountain in 1812. By 1837, all the settlements around Mount Airy had dissolved due to an outbreak of fever that killed many people and destroyed crops. In 1839, following an illness by General Hugh Blair at Battle Creek against American Indians, Governor Tryon ordered Major General Edmund Randolph to send forces to mount an expedition against mountaineers living beyond Indian lines and expel them from their land. Randolph sent Lieutenant Colonel James McDowell with orders to find any mounts or trails leading up to or down from the summit of Mount Airy and report back as soon as possible. On July 2nd, 1840, McDowell found tracks leading up from Indian Territory westward towards Salisbury and reported this back home at Camp Moore before continuing on his journey westwards until he reached Fort Loudoun on September 12th. From there he took horses and wagons upstream until he reached what is now Hendersonville where he disembarked his troops for supplies and continued onwards into Cherokee territory looking for intelligence about mounted attacks by Native Americans east of the mountains. After six weeksof travel he finally reached Asheville on October 3rd after crossing overland through Catawba Valley On top of Mount Airy was one large cabin which served as both a trading post and military base during the American Revolution The present-day summit building was erected in 1922 by local farmers as part of a promotional campaign for nearby Appalachian State University In 1951 Appalachian State renamed its main campus outside Raleigh after Drayton Wright McClure who once served as Chancellor of UNC Asheville In 1985 Mount Airy became part of NC Forest Preserve System administered by Wake Forest University
Mount Airy was founded by Anthony Rudd in 1784. The town was named for the mountain and its surrounding land. In 1823, Mount Airy became a part of Gaston County. In 1877, the county seat moved from Signal Mountain to Mount Airy.
