As of the census of 2000, there were 3,624 people residing in the town center including 2249 households out of which 38% had children under the age of 18 living with them; 53% were married couples living together; 9% had a female householder with no husband present; and 31% were non-families. 25% of all households were made up of individuals and 8% had someone living alone who was 65 years old or older. The average household size was 2½ and the average family size was 3½. In terms of housing units, there were 1,023 buildings occupied out of an estimated 936 total units built in 2000; however this figure may reflect also new construction that has not yet been counted as part as it would be subject to zoning regulations still being enforced at that time

In 1886, local Sims residents formed "The Cotton Club" to challenge prohibitionism in state elections; they won every election until repeal of Prohibition in 1933 brought about regulation of drinking by state governments which then allowed for more licentious behavior within towns like Salisbury. From then until 1999 when it was outlawed once again following Hurricane Floyd, Salisburys enjoyed some degree of peace and order although crime rates have increased since then due mainly to drug addiction among young people now living near large cities such as Raleigh or Chapel Hill outside of traditional rural communities such as White Sulphur Springs or Blacksburg where alcohol consumption has been much lower throughout history despite high levels of drunken driving fatalities according to recent statewide surveys conducted by NCDEA). Salisbury is located at (35.10752,-79.49914). According to the 2010 US Census Bureau report,[1] its population was 9,663[2].
