Southern Pines has seen many changes over its history including annexation by Chapel Hill in 1913; fire outbreaks starting in 1922; World War II; and later growth during the 1960s with suburban development becoming common until recently when overall joblessness rates began to increase due to automation across many industries throughout America while also impacting economic viability of small towns like Southern Pines

This brewery was responsible for creating a popular style of beer called “Pineapple Porter” which helped make Southern Pines an important tourist destination for visitors from throughout North Carolina. The brewery closed in 1954 but it left behind an impressive legacy including six restaurants, twelve stores, four churches, three schools and many memories with its citizens. Today, Southern Pines remains an important part of North Carolina history and culture thanks to its Rasmuson’s Ale Brewery which continues to produce delicious beer that tourists from all over enjoy!
In 1830, the land that is now known as Southern Pines was part of theCounty of Moore. The County was organized in 1837 and named for General James Moore, a Union general who fought in the American Civil War. In 1860, when North Carolina seceded from the United States, Southern Pines became part of the newly formed Confederate States of America. The area remained loyal to the Confederacy until 1865 when it surrendered to Union forces.
