By 1960, when Raleigh annexed all of Chapel Hill except for a small enclave within City Limits which still includes parts of Old Fourth Ward/New Fourth Ward, Washington had grown to 1 million people making it one of America’s largest cities by that point – larger even than Los Angeles or Chicago! However during this time Downtown Durham also saw significant gentrification with high-end residences being built on much older Victorian streetscapes; resultantly tearing apart these traditional working class neighborhoods that made up much of Central Triangle until then; although some residents have fought to keep their traditions alive through initiatives like “Downtown Dudes” or block parties featuring local music nights etcetera despite displacement throughout this process
