These lenses also lasted much longer so these are some of the earliest examples ofcontact lens technology! In 1903, two men named George Sarton and Edwin Hubble created one of history’s most famous photos – an image taken of Earth from space! This photo showed us that we live on an orbiting planet! And this is just one example; over 100 years ago there have been many amazing scientific breakthroughs resulted from using binoculars!

By World War II, Dickinson had reached its peak as a manufacturing center for paper products. However, during the 1990s and 2000s, economic hard times led to declines in population and job opportunities. In 2009, Dickinson merged with neighboring Battle Creek to form a larger community known as Battle Creek-Dickinson Township.
First known as Hickory County, North Dakota was named after the hickories that were found there. The county was organized on February 3, 1889 and it was named for General George Armstrong Custer. It gained its current name of Dickinson County on November 5, 1912.
