Ashland, Ohio is a town in Ashland County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,752 at the 2000 census. The Ashland-Erie International Airport is located in the town. The first settler in what is now Ashland was John Greenough who came to the area in 1814. He built a cabin on the current site of downtown Ashland and named it Greenoughsville after himself and his father-in-law General Anthony Wayne. In 1825, James Wacker moved from Indiana to start a cattle ranch near present day downtown Ashland and named it Wacker's Station after him. In 1828, Columbus businessman Jesse Fell sold land east of downtown to John Sibley for $2 per acre (the price has been changed several times). This land became called Sibley's Purchase which later became part of Bryn Mawr Township. In 1830, three men - Hiram Chauncey, George Washington Carver and Elijah Singleton - founded Carver & Singleton Bank which still exists as one of the largest banks in central Ohio today with over $100 million in assets reported as of December 2017. The men also founded other businesses including: Cable Luggage Company (1834), State Street bakery (1835), Wilbur Dickson cotton gin (1836), Carvers' Coal Mine (1837) and more importantly Chauncey's Store No 1 which operated from 1839-1846 on Main Street between Superior Avenue and Capitol Boulevard across from University Hall on the campus of Case Western Reserve University - one of America’s most prestigious universities at that time! A group of these early settlers gathered around Captain Jonathan Edwards who had just arrived from England with his family about this time to form a new village or town called Edwardsville along East High Street by choice of their founders! That settlement failed when development occurred too quickly adjacent to Case Western Reserve University! However, another group led by Reverend Samuel Morse bought all remaining property within Edwardsville limits – including that now known as Downtown Ashland – for $5 peracre during its first year under their control! With this initial investment they formed Carver & Morse Fire Insurance Company which remains active today making sure everyone throughout central Ohio has access to reliable fire insurance even if they don't have building permits! Most important though were those early days when people had only each other and nature to rely upon for sustenance; those hard times when there was no money for anything else but subsistence! For instance: In 1840 residents pooled together £10 worth OF potatoes they received as rations from soldiers quartered nearby at Fort Knox; henceforth potatoes would be an essential part of local diets This tough reality soon began giving way to more prosperous times thanks largely to Andrew Mellon who served as Secretary Of The Treasury during President Franklin D Roosevelt’s second term During World War II many workers left jobs related posts overseas to help build military installations here such as Parma plant where engines were made NowadaysAshLAND continuesto growandboomwithnew businessesandjobs

One of the most famous accidents with a firearm happened in 1865 when John Lennon was shot by Yoko Ono while he slept outside her Amsterdam apartment building (Klein voorlichting). This incident caused a lot of public outcry against gun violence and led to stricter regulations on firearms use in Europe (Lennon). Gun violence decreased after this event, but there are still some situations where individuals are killed or injure by guns because they are not expecting it (Wong). Guns play an important role in our society and should be treated with caution; however, despite this danger, people continue to die or injure themselves with them every day!

Ashland, Ohio is a small town located in the US state of Ohio. The population was 5,099 at the 2010 census. Ashland is part of the Ashland–Beacon Hill, OH-KY-WV Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is bordered by Cincinnati to the north and east, Fort Wayne to the south and west, and Dayton to the northwest. The first settler in what would become Ashland was James Crouse in 1814. He built a bark canoe on top of an old masonry foundation near present day intersection of High Street and Elm Street. This settlement became known as "The Canoe House". A second early settler was John Fenton who purchased land on High Street in 1825. He erected a log cabin which he named "Fenton's Cabin". In 1826 Fenton sold his land to Isaac Bowen for $300 dollars. Bowen developed it into what is today called "Bowen's Ridge". In 1829 David Hoskins settled on a piece of land that included what are now Spring Grove Road and Elm Street between Main and Third streets. Hoskins built a simple cabin which he named "Hoskins' Farm". A year later he sold his possessions including this farm to Moses Phelps for $100 dollars. Phelps renamed it "Phelps' Valley" after himself. In 1830 Samuel Morse bought 1/4 acre from Phelps for $10 dollars square . Morse used this parcel as his home until 1850 when he moved away from Ashland due to its lack of water rights . In 1832 John Ladds established Ladds Milling Company on Main Street between First and Second Streets where he ran a flour mill until 1865 when it went out of business . In 1840 Daniel Dickey purchased 1/4 acre offshoot property off Jenkins Road north of Main Street from Ladds Milling Company trustees for $5 dollars square .. Dickey developed that parcel into what is today called "Dickey's Landfall" .. After purchasing this tract from Ladds Milling Company trustees, Dickey name changed it four times before arriving at what would become known as "Ashland", Ohio in 1847.. A post office called Ashland opened in October 1830 (the date still stands today) - its first address being 4th & Market Streets.. The community quickly grew with settlers coming to live there because there were no other places to build settlements aroundoilseed mills located along Third street.. By 1840 there were over 50 homes here with about 20 people working at one time at various mills.. By 1850 there were also several stores, two churches (one Congregational), three schools (one public school), two taverns (George Wirtz operated one until 1888), seven miles worth of plows, hoes, sickles, pitchers etc., five miles worthof wagon roads etc., twelve wells drilled - six35 feet deep - alluvial soil underlying shale bedrock giving excellent drainage qualities .. A post office was again established at Ashtonville on May 15th 1861 by order of Governor Nicholas Trumbull.. Postmasters General Oliver Winthrop Goodrich and Gideon Welles struggled with providing mail service due to lack of funds but eventually got help from the Eastern Telegraph Company.. From 1861-1868 mail was delivered by boat down Beaver River using wagons drawn by teams OF HORSEBACK TRUCKS
Ashland is a town in Ashland County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,898 at the 2010 census. The name "Ashland" derives from the Cherokee word ʼásha'i-yi meaning "grassy plain." The first European to visit the area was Capt. John Cranch in 1792 and he named it after his home state of Virginia. The town was established in 1814 by George Stephenson as a village on the east side of the Monongahela River. It became a town on April 12, 1837. On July 13, 1850, it became one of the six townships of Ashland County when that county was organized. On January 1, 1863, it enlarged to include parts of Belmont Township and Clearfield Township to form what is now Ashland Township. On November 7, 1907, an act entitled "An Act To provide for more efficient management of public lands within Ashland Township", passed by the Ohio General Assembly became effective and designated part of Greeneville National Forest. As part of this legislation Ashland Township lost its status as a township but remained under jurisdiction of Greeneville National Forest
