In 1814, Daniel Webster purchased land east of Broadview Heights from British Governor Edward Livingston for $1,000. After Webster became president of the United States in 1829, he spent much of his time here and developed what would become one of Akron's most important commercial areas. In 1865-1867, during the American Civil War, Union forces burned down many local homes and businesses as part of an unsuccessful attempt to take control of central Ohio from Confederate forces. In 1870-1871, Augustus Kelley built what is now known as Kelley House on East Main Street near First Avenue in BroadVIEW HEIGHTS! This large two story dwelling was originally called Grosse Pointe Manor after Grosse Pointe Manor (now part of Strongsville) where its builder lived before moving to broadway heights in 1840. A group led by Mr. Kelley formed a benevolent society which constructed a series of additions and alterations to this house including: a large dining room with walls 12 feet thick (the original fireplaces were still used today), four double stories with soaring ceilings; five bedrooms; two bathrooms; an attic/cellar that could be divided into three rooms; twelve windows on several levels - each window presenting a beautiful panoramic view across Prospect Park or inside park boundaries - giving it an airy feel like no other building then or since! This fine example has been preserved as one of Akron's finest examples OF Second Empire architecture!

Broadview Heights is a neighborhood in Cleveland, Ohio. It was established in 1836 as part of the Overbrook Township. The population was 21,859 at the 2010 census. The name "Broadview Heights" comes from two properties on Broad Street: one called Broad View and the other called Hillcrest. The area now known as Broadview Heights was once part of the more populous Overbrook Township. In 1836, landowner Isaac Aspinwall donated 3/4 acre (1 hectare) of his land to establish a new township, Overbrook Township. He named it for himself and his wife Susannah Aspinwall, who had moved to Ohio from New York City in 1815. The first settlement in what is now Broadview Heights occurred in 1837 when three families built a house on their lot near present-day Park Avenue and Superior Street. They were joined by others soon after and organized into a town meeting on October 15th that year to decide how they would go about obtaining water and burying their dead. The meeting decided not to build any permanent homes as there wasn't enough space and instead pooled money together to dig a well and purchase some land for an academy which later became known as Cleveland Academy of Science & Technology (CASCET). In 1840, over 20 families bought 2/3 acre (1 hectare) of property along High Street between Superior Avenue and Park Avenue for use as an agricultural village known as “Meadow” because of its rich loamy soil suitable for growing corn, beans, fruits trees etc.. Meadow quickly became too small due to lack of development so lots were sold off until only 5 acres remain today - this including the current site of Broadview Heights Cemetery! With few residents available to occupy these large parcels much development did not take place until after World War II when many residents came back home following America's entry into World War II . The post office opened at Broadway & High Streets on November 4th, 1907 with mail being delivered horse-drawn carton style through Euclid streets upriver from where it presently stands! This was followed by the incorporation of Village Hall on July 1st 1915 which served both local government functions such as elections & meetings before becoming housing stock for officers withinbroad view heights police department during prohibition days! During WW2 many veterans returned home following America's entry into war while others worked in factories located nearby Hammondsport manufacturing munitions plants that produced shells used by America's allies such as Great Britain (& its Commonwealth dependencies). Aftermath of prohibition ledmany residents returning home leading to increased crime rates however this declined with stricter policing beginning in the early 1970s which has remained effective throughout recent years.
